Entries Summary The existing town approaches have very few street trees or features. The first impression for the visitor is a dry, inland town. It doesn’t present as a destination. There are opportunities to present Deniliquin as a shady, green Hay Road oasis on The Plains and to celebrate the Edward River Ute Muster environment. Site The existing town entry signs include indigenous Moonee Swamp Road species planting of shrubs and smaller trees. The signs use a stencil cut style of lettering which references the importance of wool to the region – both historically and as an important part of the current local economy. The planting has generally established well. It not only provides some habitat opportunities but also showcases indigenous species which were once much more commonly found on the plains. To Wakool Wakool Road There are opportunities to review the location of the signs. Current RMS regulations generally allow a P P smaller setback from the road edge – around 9m. P Consider opportunities to relocate the signs closer to the town centre and to re-use components of the existing signs. Visibility & legibility issues could be improved with further design resolution.
