R8250 RUDE AWAKENING (USA, 1989)

Credits: directors, Aaron Russo, David Greenwalt ; writers, Neil Levy, Richard LaGravenese. Cast: Cheech Marin, Eric Roberts, Julie Haggerty, Robert Carradine. Summary: Comedy film set in New York in 1969 and 1989. In New York in 1969, Fred, Hesus, Petra and Sammy (Roberts, Marin, Hagerty and Carradine) are free-loving who become the target of Brubaker (DeYoung) a psychotic FBI agent who pursues them with charges of draft evasion and inciting a riot. The hippies are forced underground. Fred and Hesus flee the country, starting a commune in Central America. 20 years later, their is disrupted when they stumble upon a dead CIA agent and the plans for an American invasion. Determined to try and stop it, Fred and Hesus return to New York to publicize their discovery. There they find that Petra and Sammy have become materialistic money-hungry yuppies. Undeterred, Fred and Jesus set out to radicalize the 80s, taking over a building at NYU, which brings them to the attention of the still vigilant Brubaker.
