The Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex features two 18-hole Pete Dye-designed championship golf courses with a first-class golf training center. The Kampen Course, renovated by Pete Dye in 1998, is a links style course with large bent-grass greens, fairways and tees. The layout presents a challenge for golfers of all abilities with vast sand bunkers, native grasslands, ponds and a natural celery bog. Offering five sets of tees, players of every age and ability can find a yardage that suits their game. The Ackerman-Allen Course, renovated by Pete Dye in 2015, is a parkland-style course with bent-grass greens, fairways and tees as well. With rolling hills, tree-lined fairways, white sand bunkers, and minimal water hazards, the Ackerman- Allen Course suits golfers of all abilities. As with the Kampen Course, five sets of tees helps golfers with varying abilities to find a yardage best suited for them.

Paul “Pete” Dye is a legend in the field of golf course design and construction. He is considered in many circles to be the most influential golf course architect of the last five decades.

Dye courses frequently host events on the various professional tours and major amateur tournaments. Recently, ten of his courses were included in a national magazine’s list of the top 100 in the nation.

In 1998 he lent his expertise in the renovation of the Kampen Course of Purdue University’s Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex. The Course incorporates Pete’s drainage and irrigation designs as well as wetlands areas that help recycle and purify water that drains onto the course. The course additionally serves as a living laboratory, combining turfgrass research and environmental studies.

In 2016, Pete returned to Purdue University to provide a new face-lift on the old Ackerman Hills Course. Dye transformed the 6400 yard golf course into the new Ackerman-Allen Course. The course is a traditional parkland style layout that features rolling hills, tree-lined fairways, and wide collection areas around the green. While the course can be played as long as 7500 yards from the back tees, it is also only 5200 from the front tees. Since its reopening in 2016, the Ackerman-Allen Course has drawn massive amounts of praise.

With the Dye-designed Kampen Course and Ackerman-Allen Course, the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex has a strong argument to be the greatest collegiate facility in the nation. Kampen is rated one of the top collegiate courses in the nation and has been awarded 4.5 stars on Golf Digest’s “Places to Play.” Kampen receives high marks as it is ranked as one of the most difficult golf courses in Indiana. The course has also played host to a number of prestigious collegiate and public tournaments such as the 2000 Men’s Big Ten Championship, the 2003 Women’s NCAA Championship, the 2004 Indiana Open, the 2005 Women’s Western Amateur, the 2008 Men’s NCAA Championship and the 2017 NCAA Men’s Regional.

BOILER SPECIAL (SENIOR) Residents who are 60 or older can purchase a special membership that allows unlimited access to the courses from Monday to Friday and after 4 p.m. on weekends. If you would like to play on Saturday or Sunday morning, you can pay the Purdue Golf Savings Card rate. Unlimited range access also included.

BOILER SPECIAL (TWILIGHT) Residents who would like have access to unlimited golf after 4 p.m. during the week and on weekends may purchase a special membership for those times only.
