WELCOME TO KLAIPEDA

Location

Klaipeda is the third biggest city in the west of Lithuania on the Baltic Sea coast. Klaipeda is the only sea port in the country. It is 308 kilometres from the capital city, Vilnius. Klaipeda is on the Dane River.

Interesting places

There are some nice buildings in the old part of the city. There are also interesting museums here. One of the most beautiful sights in Klaipeda is the sailing vessel Meridianas. There are also lots of beautiful sculptures in the city. Smiltyne is a part of the Klaipeda port, located in Curonian Spit National Park. There are beautiful forests and sandy beaches. There is also the Sea Museum and Dolphinarium. You can get there by ferry.

Sports and clubs

Basketball is a popular sport here. BC Neptūnas is a basketball club from Klaipeda. There are also two football teams here, Atlantas and Granitas.

Shops

There are some big shopping centres in Klaipeda. They are very popular all the year round. There are also lots of small shops in the city.
