The Sports and Fitness Center is UVI’s 64,000 so. foot facility for athletics and physical education. Since 2001, the tournament has been played at the 4,000-seat UVI Sports and Fitness Center. The first year of the tournament was played at Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, in anticipation of the comple- tion of the state-of-the-art UVI facility in 2001. The UVI facility has been praised as the best non-mainland tournament facility by several tournament head coaches. It has a portable wood floor for the main court and two other tartan full courts running sideways for practice. In addition, the building houses five class- rooms and a VIP sky box/public relations area. The Sports and Fitness Center also is designed to contain a fully functional training room. It is the premier athletic facility of its type in the Caribbean.

LSU’s Opening Round Opponent – Old Dominion LSU and Old Dominion will meet for the first time in men’s basketball … ODU has come out of the gate 2-0 with a 76-56 win over North Carolina Wilmington and then on Tuesday won 63-57 over Richmond … In that game, four players were in double figures with Trey Freeman getting 13, Jordan Baker and Ross Richard 12 each and Denzell Taylor 10. The Monarchs, who play in C-USA, are coached by Jeff Jones, in his second season with a mark of 20-18 presently. Jones is in his 23rd year as a coach, having coached at Virginia and American before taking the ODU job. He has won a total of 377 games. Jones was a part of the 1981 Final Four team at Virginia.
