PSG COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION Performance of the Students during the year 2016-17 SPORTS ACHIEVEMENTS

As the sports Secretary of this College, I am privileged to stand before you to present the Annual report of our tech sports. As in the previous year’s our college sportsmen and women participated in various sports and games and won many laurels to our institution. Our college men and women won many Anna University Zonal & Inter Zone titles and brought glory to our institution. The following is a brief report of the achievements of our teams and the individual honors won by our students during this academic year.

ACHIEVEMENTS OF MEN TEAMS

ATHLETICS

Our College Men team led by N. Karthick of IV BE Mechanical clinched the Overall 4th place in Anna University Zonal Athletic Meet. The team bagged Bronze medal in 4*400 mts relay.

K.Madhan Kumar bagged second place in 5000 mts and 10000 mts .R.Sanjay bagged second place in shotput throw. A.AbuYasarArafath bagged first place in 800 mts.

BADMINTON

Our college men team led by S. Krishna Deva Royar of IV BE Civil won the Anna University Zone – 9 tournament and participated in Anna University Inter zone competition. The team has secured second place in KCT trophy and has secured 4TH place in 8th CENTIES championship Trophy.

BALL BADMINTON

Our college men’s team led by N. Chanduru of IV BE SW Production emerged as Runners in “ANNA UNIVERSITY ZONALS”. The team has also participated in the 6th Chinnasamy Memorial Trophy Conducted by Adithya Institute of Technology and 8th CENTIES Championship. They have also participated in Arutselvar Dr. Mahalingam Trophy conducted by Kumaraguru College of Technology. The team Organized the “INTRA COLLEGE DOUBLES BALL BADMINTON TOURNAMENT”.

BASKETBALL

Our college men’s team led by G. DHANUSH ARAVIND of IV BE MECH has secured the First place in the Anna University Zonal Tournament and third place in the 1stCENTIES Champions Trophy. The team has also participated in the South level Inter engineering tournament organised by Karunya University. The team also participated in the Karunya University tournament held for engineering colleges within Coimbatore district. The team has successfully organised the 52ndAll India tournament for men, 8thCENTIES Championship and 1stCENTIES Champions Trophy.

CHESS

Our college Chess men team lead by Bhagawanth Kaushic of 4thyr BE MECH SW emerged as the WINNERS in Anna University Zone-9 tournament and participated in the Inter Zonal tournament. The team also participated in Arutselvar Dr.N.Mahalingam Rolling trophy secured 3rd place (KICS’16). They have also clinched the 8th CENTIES championship Chess title.

CRICKET

Our college team led by V. Aswath IV B.E Production Engineering emerged as the winners of Anna University Zone-9 Cricket tournament. Our cricket team is actively competing in Coimbatore District Cricket Association(CDCA) III Division League tournaments and have scored 10 points till date ,with two more matches left and hoping for some good performances. Our cricket team was also successful by securing 4th place in 8th CDCA inter collegiate cricket tournament and also emerged as Runners in 10th TCE T-20 Trophy.

FOOTBALL Our college team headed by S. Manikandan of IV PRODUCTION SW has secured runner-up position in Anna University zonal football tournament and has emerged as the winners of KICS’16 football tournament. The team has also participated in Karunya trophy 2016, SNGC trophy 2017 and is also currently playing in the ‘A’ division Coimbatore football league.

HANDBALL

Our college team led by V.D.Hariraam Prasad of IV BE Mechanical was the winners of the Anna University Zone-9 tournament . The team also emerged as winners in the SNR chinnaswamynaidu memorial trophy . The team also participated in ArutselvarDr.N.Mahalingam rolling trophy (KICS’16) and emerged as winners and was the runners in 8th CENTIES Championship and The team also successfully conducted 11th State Level Inter Engineering Invitational Tournament for PSG TECH TROPHY and secured Third position.

Prathep.Pa, Arunchandar.S.S, Prakash.R, these players represented Coimbatore district in the under-19 State Handball Championship conducted at Dindigul.

Prathep.Pa, Darunthyageshwar .B, Ariyamuthu.M represented their corresponding districts in the CHIEF MINISTER’S State handball championship held at Dindigul .

HOCKEY

Our college team led by R.Aswath of 3rd year B.E Metallurgy Engineering secured third place in the Anna university zone -9 tournament .And they also participated in KCT Trophy ,CDHA league and GCT Alumni Trophy . The team also successfully conducted 11th Tech tournament for Major Dhyan Chand memorial Trophy and emerged as Winners.

KHO-KHO Winners in Kct tournament, Anna university zone -9 tournament and 8th centies championship,Runners in anna university inter zonal tournament.The team secured third place in the 7th karumuthu thiagarajan Chettisham memorial inter engineering tournament organized by thiagarajar college of engineering, madurai and A.Abu yasar arafath (B.Tech IT 3rd year,14I205)represented anna university in the state level inter university kho kho tournament and S.Ravi kannan (BE Mech 4th year, 13M154)secured best pole diver award in the 7th karumuthu thiagarajan Chettisham memorial inter engineering tournament organized by Thiagarajar college of engineering.

SEPAK-TAKRAW

Our college team led by A.P.Kavin of IV-BE Production successfully Organised 10th"Takraw 3's" - an Intra college tournament. The team have planned to conduct 12th Interstate SepakTakraw Tournament for PSG tech Trophy from 17th to 19th of March 2017.

(1) V.Lakshminarayanan of IV BE (EEE-SW) represented our TamilNadu SepakTakraw team in the 27th Senior National SepakTakraw championship held at kadappa, AndraPradesh.

(2) R.Gurunathan of III BE-CSE and V.Lakshminarayanan have represented Anna University in the All India Inter University SepakTakraw championship held at Barailey,UttarPradesh.

(3) A.P.Kavin of IV BE Production, B.Raguvaran of IV BE EEE-sw and R.Kathirvelan of III BE metly have represented Coimbatore district in the 17th Senior State SepakTakraw championship held at .

The team is successful in organising an exhibition match for SepakTakraw in Kumaraguru College of Technology,Coimbatore during KICS.

TABLE TENNIS Our college Table Tennis team led by P.Karthick from IV BE Mechanical Engineering had secured second place in the Anna University Zone – 10 tournament. Added to that, the team secured first place in the ArutselvarDr.N.Mahalingam Rolling Trophy which was held at Kumaraguru College of technology and third place in 8th CENTIES championship and also participated in the PSG CAS state level Table Tennis tournament.

TENNIS

Our college team led by S.Karthick of IV BE ECE emerged as the Winners in the Anna University Zone - 9 Tournament and 8th Centies Championship. The team also emerged as Runners in the Anna University Inter Zonal Tournament.

VOLLEYBALL

Our college team led by S.Ganeshamoorthy of IV BE Mechanical Engineering Secured second place in the Anna University Zone -9 tournament and got third place in KCT tournament .They also got fourth place in the 8th CENTIES Championship. The team has also participated in the SNR Trophy and AIT Trophy. The team has successfully conducted 3’s Intra college tournament.

ACHIEVEMENTS OF WOMEN TEAMS

ATHLETICS

Our College team led by G.Laxman Prabha of III Bsc (CS&D) clinched the Overall 2nd place in Anna University Zonal Athletic Meet. The team bagged Silver medal in 4*100 mts relay and 4*400mts relay.

Divya Dharshini.M bagged first place in 5000mts and 10000mts. Shobana.M bagged first place in Hammer Throw and second place in Javelin Throw.Kaushika.D won second place in 400mts and third place in 1500mts.Nandhini.B won second place in Long Jump.Honey Shree.R.S won second place in 10000mts.Yamini.K won second place in Triple Jump.Subashree.N won third place in 800mts.

BADMINTON Our college team led by Harinitha.P 3rd year BTech Textile Technology came out as winners in Anna University Zonals Tournament and got winner-up in CENTIES championship.The team has also won the KCT Trophy. P.Vikashini 2nd year BE Instrumentation and Control Engineering secured third place in Chief Ministers Trophy(State Level) and also emerged as winner in the South Zone inter university Badminton Tournament.She also participated in the All India Inter University Tournament.She also badged third place in State Level inter Colligiated Badminton Tournament.

BALL BADMINTON

Our college team led by B.Shobana Lakshmi of IV BE CSE emerged as Runners up in ANNA UNIVERSITY ZONALS . The team has participated in SNR Chinnasamy Naidu Memorial Trophy and won the Third place.

The team has successfully conducted the “7th COLLEGE DOUBLES BALL BADMINTON TOURNAMENT”.

BASKETBALL

Our Basketball Women’s team led by P.Valliammai IV BE RAE has participated in the Anna University Zonal Tournament and won the RUNNER UP Trophy. The team also participated in the KICS’ 16 Tournament conducted by Kumaraguru College of Technology and emerged as WINNERS.

The team was successful at organising the Intramurals Events.

CHESS

Our college chess women team lead by Akshaya Nandakumar of III BE ECE emerged as the first runner up in the Anna University Zone-9 Tournament and also finished as winners in Arutselvar Dr.N Mahalingam Rolling Trophy (KICS’16).

AKSHAYA NANDAKUMAR OF 3RD year BE ECE participated in Asian Junior Chess Championship -2016, held at New Delhi during May 2016 and secured 14th place. TABLE TENNIS

Our college team led by S.Janani Aashitha of III year B.Tech FT secured winners position in Anna University Table Tennis Zonal level tournameny held at Teja Shakthi College. The team has also secured runners position in 8th Centies Table Tennis tournament.

THROWBALL

Our college team lead by M.SNEHA emerged as Winners in “8th CENTIES CHAMPIONSHIP-2017 tournament” and secured Runner up position in “Arutselvar Dr.N.MAHALINGAM ROLLING TROPHY”(KICS’16).We also secured Runner up position in Sasurie Throwball Trophy 2017.

M.Sneha, S.P.Dheepika & K.Latchiya Represented Coimbatore District in 14th Senior State Throwball Championship held at “S.Thangapazham Polytechnic College” Tirunelveli.

The team also successfully organised the 7’s Throwball for girls in which around 36 teams participated.

VOLLEYBALL

Our college team led by SWATHI.V IV BE CSE participated in ArutselvarDr.N.Mahalingam Rolling Trophy (KICS’ 16) and secured III(Third) place. The team emerged as the Winners of Anna University Zonal Tournament.

The team has organized Intra collegiate 3’s Volleyball tournament for non-players, in which around 15 teams participated. They have also organized Intra collegiate Intramurals.
