London Liberal Democrats – Advice on Imprints

Imprints are required by law on all printed materials used as part of the election, and are “recommended” by the Electoral Commission as “good practice” on electronic material such as websites. See the most recent Electoral Commission advice here: https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0008/194390/Factsheet-Candidates- Imprints-May-2016.pdf

On printed materials, letters, leaflets, posters etc.

To be included in a readably sized font (taking account of the type of printer used) eg 5pt Times New Roman

 Printed by {name and address of printer]. Published and promoted by [name of agent] on behalf of [name(s) of candidates] all at [address (e.g. agents “office” address)

If the leaflet covers multiple wards and therefore many candidates, instead of listing all the candidates, put “[Borough] Liberal Democrats

On Websites and emails

As for printed materials, but you may replace “printed by” with “hosted by” and use the name and address of the email hosting company eg Nationbuilder.

 Hosted by {name and address of web hosting company]. Published and promoted by [name of agent] on behalf of [name(s) of candidates] all at [address (e.g. agents “office” address)

Nationbuilder

There is a default imprint, but it is good practice to include your local one …

Website > Site Settings > Footer

 Printed (hosted) by NationBuilder. Published and promoted by {Organiser or Agent] on behalf of {Local party or candidate] all at [Office address]

FaceBook Page

From the page, click “About” (in the left column). Scroll down to “more Info” and under that heading find “impressum”. Mouse over to find “edit” and amend as necessary

 Published and promoted by [name of agent] on behalf of [name(s) of candidates] all at [address (e.g. agents “office” address)

(Facebook Groups do not have this facility and are in any case intended for internal comunications only – not to persuade/dissuade voters)

Twitter

If you are using your twitter account to promote your candidacy you will need to include a link to a website that carries your agents imprint. Just underneath the biog section in your profile there is an option to include a web link below the location. So for example Simon who is standing as a candidate in South ward in Lambeth has put the Lambeth Liberal Democrat website in his profile.
