SPIKE II A HUGE SUCCESS

SPIKE II was held on Friday, April 13th at Central Middle School. SPIKE is a charity tournament and is a joint effort by the PHS and PHHS Student Councils to raise money for the NJASC State Charity. This year's charity is America's Grow -A-Row, an organization that raises and donates crops to the homeless and impoverished. Overall, we had 30 teams from both schools playing in a double-elimination tournament (62 games total). Between entrance fees and donations, we raised $1,082.87 dollars!

SPIKE has some big prizes and consequences for the participants. The winning team gets lunch delivered to them by the opposing school's principal. This year's winner was "Last Minute" from PHHS (Laila Kirstein, Sandra Duszkiewicz, Taylor Zitelli, Aidan Zitelli, Valerie Trento and Steve Puchalski); Dr. Mulroony begrudgingly delivered Buffalo Wild Wings to them in May. They beat "Now on Court 4" from PHS in the finals. Congrats also go out to the "PHHS Players" for being Most Spirited and to "Block Party" for having the Best Uniforms.

As a further reward, the school that raises the most money gets to fly their flag over the opposing school for a week. As a result, the PHS Redhawk flag will be raised over PHS for the second year in a row.

We are so proud to see the students of PHHS and PHS working and playing together for a good cause! We look forward to making SPIKE III even bigger next year! SERVICE NIGHT TRIVIA CHALLENGE

We held our Annual Service Night Trivia Contest in April and had a great turnout with about twenty-five teams competing. By the end of the night, after eighty challenging trivia questions, Kevin Weiss, Sriram Rao, Dilan Bhavsar, Amit Bhatnagar and Mohit Ahuja had a great comeback and took home the title, earning Buffalo WIld Wings for lunch as a result.
