APPENDIX I The following lists of Puritan divines are all taken from contemporary sources. They are given here in the same chronological order as they a~ peared. In a way, these lists may serve as clear indicators of developments in Puritan politics during the English Revolution. It is to be noted that not all the Puritan divines whose names appear in this study are included in these lists, or vice versa. It is in the Thomason Col lection (669, f. 19, no. 3) and has been reprinted in Gardiner, History of the Commonwealth and Protectorate, II, 308-310. Although there was no such an official division of the whole House over the issues of ministry and learning, the classification of the members in this list seems to be quite accurate in regard to the issue of national ministry.
