It is requested that the Board approve Personnel Report #18, March 20, 2007, which contains actions such as hiring, retirements, resignations, promotions and terminations involving certificated, classified and other employees in the categories of noon duty aide, recreational supervisors, substitute employees, and others. These actions are consistent with policies of the Board of Education, the rules and regulations of the Personnel Commission and the District’s Affirmative Action Plan.

WHEREAS, due to the lack of funds and/or lack of work, it has been determined by this Board that the following classified positions be abolished:

One (1) 4 hour, 9 month, Instructional Aide position at Chavez Middle School, effective March 30, 2007

One (1) 3 hour, 12 month, Instructional Aide position at Del Rosa Elementary School, effective November 15, 2006

One (1) 3 ½ hour, 9 month, Instructional Assistant/CAI position at Kimbark Elementary School, effective November 27, 2006

One (1) 8 hour, 12 month, Office Assistant III/SAP position at Purchasing, effective March 1, 2007

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Education as follows:

1. That due to a lack of funds and/or lack of work, the number of classified employees and the amount of service rendered shall be reduced by layoff as specified above, pursuant to Education Code 45308.

2. That the Superintendent is directed to give notice of layoff to the affected classified employees pursuant to the requirement of law.

3. That said layoffs shall become effective the end of the day, following 30 full days of notice.

4. That employees laid off pursuant to this resolution shall be eligible for reemployment pursuant to Education Code 45298.
