Seconding Speech for Lenora S. Newsome, PD Nominee for the Open Treasurer Position

Submitted by John Clay Kirtley, PharmD, Executive Director, Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy I am writing you today to second the nomination of Lenora S. Newsome for the office of NABP Treasurer. First of all, what can I say other than, if you haven’t gotten to know Lenora in her years with NABP you have missed a blessing in your life. In many ways, I am here to brag on Lenora today as bragging simply is not her style. Lenora is a residency trained pharmacist who has served patients largely in rural communities for nearly 40 years. Dr Newsome has been an active member of the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy, as well as NABP, for nearly 30 years. Having had the opportunity to know and work with Lenora for many of those years, I can tell you that most of our Board and staff would describe her as a quiet, calm leader with a clear presence about her that simply shows: when she speaks, people should listen. Dr Newsome’s commitment to public service is exemplary, and she is the only Board appointee we know of in Arkansas to have been appointed by five governors, including: Bill Clinton, Jim Guy Tucker Jr, Mike Huckabee, Mike Beebe, and Asa Hutchinson. In short, Lenora is a selfless public servant with an unshakable sense of right and wrong, who continually mentors people even when she isn’t trying. Even more importantly for all of us at NABP, Lenora is family -- family of pharmacy, family of NABP. Please join me in supporting her as the next treasurer of NABP.
