A Message from AnitaB.org President and CEO Brenda Darden Wilkerson

Now more than ever, we are committed to bring about change within the tech industry and build an eco-system of inclusive technology. It is your partnership with AnitaB.org that supports the talent pipeline of all women in tech we work so hard to build.

This year, we hosted our first ever virtual Grace Hopper Celebration, a completely online version of our flagship event and the world’s largest gathering of women technologists.

As we pivoted in 2020, we hit a milestone of hosting more than 37,000 attendees from 155+ countries – a 20% increase from the prior year’s attendance and our largest attendance in our Celebration’s history. vGHC brought together more than 300 organizations from corporate, academia, STEAM labs, government, and other nonprofits to network and share insight with attendees. Our major networking event, and extension of vGHC, brought 10.7 million attendees and sponsors together for meaningful, supportive, partnerships, and job opportunities. This extension helps women technologists reach career milestones and is a means to helping fight inequities in the tech space.

Last year, we certainly had our challenges due to COVID-19, as did so many of our communities. But, challenges are also learning opportunities that help organizations like AnitaB.org see how we can be an even better partner to each of you as we move forward.

As Grace Hopper once said, “The most damaging phrase in the language is: “It’s always been done that way.”, and we still live by that.

We look forward to seeing how we can shape the future and continue creating the movement we started which is to ensure we are building a world of inclusive technology. Because of you, we are still able to continue on our journey and ensure we are pushing for a diverse and equitable future for all women technologists.
