JOHN A. DELANEY Mayor of Jacksonville WELCOME

Dear Friends:

Welcome to the 2003 Jacksonville Jazz Festival! After a two-year absence, this fes tival is back and better than ever before.

Jacksonville has a long history of jazz - from Wynton Marsalis to Ray Charles - many great musicians have called our city home. This year's Jazz Festival features many jazz giants - it also features a unique sampling of the very diverse forms of jazz. We have worked hard to create a line-up with something for everyone.

This year's festival is different than you may remember. Venues will include Metropolitan Park, The and the Ritz Theatre & La Villa Museum. And there will be surprises throughout the weekend. Three days of great jazz across downtown will leave you with an experience that you won't forget.

Plus, there are new features like Art at the Met, a juried art show and sale at Metropolitan Park. Artists from all over the country will display their work at the Jazz Festival, complementing the inherent creative roots of jazz music.

The Jazz Festival poster is back, and I know many of us who have collected these over the years will be happy to add the 2003 edition to their collection.

I am glad you are here to celebrate the cultural richness of our city at this time honored and much-loved Jazz Festival. Enjoy the music, art and fun!

Sincerely,

Mayor John A Delaney The 2003 Jacksonville Jazz Festival poster is back and available for collecting. It can be purchased for $25 for a signed and numbered copy ($50 after the festival) or $15 for an unsigned copy ($25 after the festival). Posters are available for purchase during the festival at each venue. Framing is also available on site at Metropolitan Park by Sweet Magnolias.

Collectors can also visit www.jaxjazzfest.com for a list of local retailers who are selling the 2003 Jacksonville Jazz Festival Poster.

The 2003 poster was designed by Jacksonville native Lindsay Stump, of Lindsay Stump Design & Media, featuring a painting by local artist Liz Burns. The painting, entitled "Ensemble," utilizes the language of shape, color, signs and symbols to parallel music's rhythm, tone and harmony and their power to evoke a variety of aesthetic responses.
