Under 10s – John Treanor Memorial Trophy (Emyvale) The under 10’s attended a very high profile and competitive tournament in Emyvale with quality teams from Derry (Steelestown & Slaughtneil), Omagh (Errigal Ciaran, Omagh, Dromore, Moy) Monaghan (Blayney, Monaghan Harps), Cavan and (, , St. Paul’s). In total, 31 teams competed for the honours. were drawn in a group that included Keady, Ballymachugh (Cavan), St. Paul’s and Toome (Monaghan). The lads performed outstandingly topping their group winning 3 out of their 4 matches (only Keady beating them by 4 points). They beat Ballymachugh by 5 points in their first match and that Cavan team progressed all the way to the final. That is some achievement for this young Derrynoose team , where 7 of these players are still eligible to play in this tournament next year. As group winners, they progressed as group winners to the Quarter Finals and just fell short by 4 points against a very strong Steelstown side. Things just didn’t go their way in this match and on another day, Derrynoose could have easily disposed of the Steelstown team. There were great performances all round; they played their hearts out in very hot conditions. The two midfielders of Jack Fox and Oisin Woods works tirelessly all day, while in the backs young Patrick Nugent had a stormer in every match. The reliable and hard working Eddie McGurgan played well and ably supported by Ben Hughes and Thomas Farrell in a very solid back-line. Up front, Dylan Mone tormented defences time and time again scoring goals for fun – a real talent this young fella. Shane McGrane was a tremendous link man winning so much breaking ball and setting up attack after attack with Cian McMullen and Conall Burke ably supporting the front two. Goalkeeper Daniel Boyle played some great stuff and a position that he enjoyed.
