WALKERVILLE NEWS

This week we had a reverse of fortune for the Walkerville teams. With so many players unavailable it was a selection nightmare for the teams. With so many out it weakened the strength of the club which reflected in the results.

Saturday was a dirty day weather wise causing havoc with the day’s cricket. The A’s struggled to chase down the large score posted by Grange. The team ended up in the dark trying Who’s shoes are these? to hold of Grange, but the car head lights on the road weren’t enough to light up the ground! The B’s suffered a similar fate with weight of runs too much to over come. Good to see Hugh get amongst the runs. Ths C’s played a one dayer and whilst well beaten there were some positive signs for the future, especially the form of Michael “Tall” Smith. The D’s battled hard and did their best with some good results from the young fella’s. Well done to Sam Bentley who won the mug for his team (he enjoyed the coke) and Max Dupree for his stylish 30 in the 1st innings. The LOC’s in Round 2 with a star studded side (atleast All good from the U/11 Walkerville boys. what was written on paper) led by CJ struggled on the day but had some good signs from Stew Callary and Joe Frick. In Round 3, led by the evergreen Bruce “Magnum” Mayberry the side lost after making a good score of their 40 overs. Great to see old man Fricky make his debut for the club as possibly the oldest player to do so and great to see were sticking with the force with Pitty debuting. The Junior sides just completed their first round of matches. It is great to see so many young keen cricketers running around playing the game.

th On the 24 November the club will have its Quiz night, A big hit from Sam Hutchinson for the U/11’s we are looking for people who can help with gifts and raffle items. If you can help then contact Leo 0413638540.
