Divine Redeemer Parish Mission Statement Created from the merger of five ethnic parishes in 1995, Divine Redeemer Parish is a Roman Catholic community of believers in the Diocese of Harrisburg. We trace our roots to an immigrant population. . .modern-era pilgrims who brought with them from foreign lands the cultural traditions they celebrated and the Faith they cherished. We are their temporal descendants and their spiritual heirs. Our parish is their legacy. Separate in the past, now we are one in Christ. We bear witness with our lives to God’s grace forming our future as we worship together in faith, work together in hope to build community, and respond together in love to the needs of others.

Bishop Ronald Gainer to Welcome St. Relics at Mother Cabrini Church. Bish- op Ronald Gainer will celebrate the 4:00 PM Vigil Mass at Mother Cabrini Church on Saturday, April 30. The Bishop will come to Mother Cabrini as part of the Jubilee Year of Mercy and to welcome the Pilgrimage Relics of St. Maximilian Kolbe (St. Maximilian Kolbe reliquary is pictured to the left). The Very Rev. James McCurry, Minister Provincial of the Franciscan Friars, will be guest homi- list. Everyone is welcome to attend! St. Maximilian was a Franciscan priest who took the place of a fellow prisoner who was about to be executed in the Auschwitz concentration camp. 2016 marks the 75 th anniversary of Kolbe’s death. The Franciscan Friars are sponsoring an east coast pilgrimage of St. Maximilian’s relics to commemorate this historic anniversary. In addition to the visit to Mother Cabrini, the relics will also visit SCI Coal Township; and on the weekend of May 7/8, St. Patrick Parish, Tre- vorton. St. John Paul II canonized Kolbe in 1982 and named him a “Martyr of Charity.” St. Maxi- milian has been declared the Patron of imprisoned people, journalists, political prisoners, families, volunteers, the pro-life movement, and those who battle drug addiction.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month - The Diocese of Harrisburg is committed to the safety of children. We take very seriously the protection of youth in all Church related activities and programs. We are working to make the Catholic Church one of the safest institu- tions in the country. To report the suspected abuse of a minor, call the PA Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-932-0313. To report suspected abuse of a minor by a Church official, employee or volunteer, no matter when it happened, call the diocesan toll free hotline at 1 -800- 626-1608. In the Diocese of Harrisburg we: - Have zero tolerance for anyone who is guilty of even one instance of abuse. - Offer opportunities to help victims to heal. - Screen all employees and volunteers before they can begin service. - Educate our youth on how to stay safe. - Train employees and volunteers on how to recognize and report abuse. - Disclose all allegations to local civil authorities. - Exceed State and national requirements. - Undergo an annual independent audit of our procedures. None of these efforts are new; some have been in place for decades. To learn more about what you can do to prevent abuse, how to report abuse, assistance available to victims and Youth Protection efforts of the Diocese, please visit: www.hbgdiocese.org/safeyouth.
