January through October results remained at the same high level as 2007 with sales of 195,142 (2007: 195,284). “Today, we have several reasons to celebrate,” said Reid Bigland, President and CEO of Chrysler Canada. “First, our all-new Dodge Ram received the prestigious Automotive Journalists Association of Canada's “Best New Pickup Truck” award. Further, October marked the 25th month of sales growth over the last 27 months. And finally, this week we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the birth of the Chrysler minivan right here in Canada. The first minivan rolled off the assembly line in Windsor, Ontario on November 2, 1983 and made history by becoming one of the world’s most recognizable and well-loved vehicles.” October Sales Highlights The Dodge Grand Caravan celebrated its 25th anniversary by setting a new October record with sales of 2,965, up 42 percent over 2007 (2007: 2,085). Calendar-year-to-date (CYTD), Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country have posted a combined 38,502 units (2007: 24,159). Available in over 80 countries, Chrysler and Dodge have sold more than 12 million minivans worldwide – more than any other manufacturer in the world. Chrysler LLC has been the minivan market leader for 25 years in a row. The Dodge Ram pickup also recorded its best October ever as the all-new 2009 Ram hits the showrooms. The Dodge Ram posted an increase of 40 percent in October over last year, with sales of 3,319 (2007: 2,380). Dodge Ram 1500 sales were up 53% for the month (1,699 units), and 29% for the January through October period (23,928 units for 2008 compared to 18,604 for 2007). Demand for the 2009 Dodge Ram has been high since the vehicle started arriving in showrooms last month. In addition to sales success, the Dodge Ram received two honours in the past month. Last week, the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup was named the "Best New Pickup Truck" by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC). Across the border, the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) named the all-new 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 “Full-Size Pickup Truck of Texas.” A new October record was also set for the Jeep® Wrangler with sales of 919 units, up 30% over last year's record of 708. Calendar-year-to-date, Wrangler sales of 10,454 are up 21% over 2007. Sales of the fuel-efficient Dodge Caliber were 1,318 in October, up 19 percent over last year's total of 1,106 units. The Dodge Journey retained the title of No. 1-selling crossover in Canada with solid October sales of 1,050 units. November Sales Promotions For the month of November, Chrysler Canada has brought back the very popular Employee Pricing Discount. Now through December 1, Canadians can receive the Chrysler Canada Employee Price Discount on nearly every 2008 & 2009 Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicle (excludes Challenger and Sprinter, as well as 2009 Dodge Journey and 2009 Ram 1500). “This incentive was one of our all-time most successful programs,” said Dave Buckingham, Vice President of Sales. "Given the financial challenges consumers are facing today, we decided it was time to offer them the same great prices available to our own employees.” In addition to Employee Pricing, Chrysler Canada is offering cash bonuses up to $10,000, or zero percent purchase financing up to 84 months. The combination of the cash bonus with the Employee Pricing means total discounts of up to $15,000 off the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP). Zero percent purchase financing up to 84 months is offered on the 2009 Chrysler 300 and 300C, as well as on the 2009 Dodge Charger. Zero percent purchase financing up to 60 months is available on select 2008 models, including the Jeep Liberty, Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Grand Caravan, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Ram 1500. Chrysler Canada is also proud to announce that it has further expanded its long list of vehicles available for under $20,000. Canadians can now purchase a fuel-efficient (41 miles per gallon highway) Chrysler Sebring Convertible with air conditioning, automatic transmission, power windows, locks and mirrors, for $19,999, or the world's best- selling minivan, the Dodge Grand Caravan, with V6 engine, air conditioning, automatic transmission, anti-lock brake system, Electronic Stability Program, side-curtain air bags, power windows, locks, and mirrors for only $18,999.
