The opportunity ahead The left must now accept that immigration is a real issue, that patriotism is popular, that people want control of their lives and that the media matters more than deliver- ing flyers. If we can get past our liberal disdain for these facts of life, there is tre- mendous opportunity in the anti-elitism of voters and their acceptance of immigrants.
