Baba Stone Crusher Pre-Feasibility Report Vankayalapadu village, Edlapadu Mandal, Guntur Dt., A.P. 2.0 INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT/BACKGROUND INFORMATION 2.1 Identification of Project and Project Proponent The proposed project area is found to have good deposits of Road metal. It is used in infrastructure development. 2.2 Brief Information about the Project The mining lease area of 2.70 Ac. is located in Non-forest, Government land. Open cast mining is followed and it has been proposed to produce approximately 7,500 cu.m./annum of Road Metal. The nearest habitation is vankayalapadu Village located at a distance of 1.2 Km due N of Quarry Lease. 2.3 Need for the Project and Its Importance to the Country or Region The demand for Road Metal has increased due to rapid industrialization and growth in infrastructure. So the number of Road Metal producing quarries is increasing in India. Due to bifurcation of State, there is a huge demand for Road Metal. As per EIA notification 2006 project proponent is submitting the proposal to get Environment Clearance for QL area of 2.70. from District Level Environmental Appraisal Committee/District level Impact Assessment Authority of Guntur constituted by MoEF, GOI for the purpose of operating the quarry lease for which Notification is issued. 2.4 Demands-Supply Gap There is huge demand since the material is used extensively in building construction infrastructure development. This project will help in reducing the Demand-Supply gap in the area. 2.5 Domestic/ Export Markets The material is used in the domestic market and in there is no scope for exporting the material. 2.6 Employment Generation Proposed mining is semi-mechanized method and this project operation will provide livelihood to the 25 workers. It will provide employment to the people residing in vicinity. 2 M/s. The lessee follows open cast semi mechanized mining. Production parameters The Mineral production target for five years is given in Table 3.1. Table 3.1 : Year wise Production Programme Bench Year Area Volume Height I Year (2016-17) 1000 3 3000 II Year (2017-18) 2000 3 6000 III Year (2018-19) 2166.67 3 6500 IV Year (2019-20) 2333.34 3 7000 V Year (2020-21) 2500 3 7500 Total 10000 30000 Average 2000 6000 3.5 Geology and Reserves 3.5.1 Regional Geological setup The Eastern Ghat Mobile Belt (EGMB) in Andhra Pradesh occupying large parts of Coastal District, Prakasam, Guntur, Krishna, East & West Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam Districts for more than 600 Km in length with maximum width of 100 Km in Northern District and tapers it to 20 Km in Southern District. It is NNE – SSW trending in Southern part and charge to NE – SW, West of Eluru. Stratigraphy & Lithology Eastern Ghat Mobile Belt in Andhra Pradesh is devided into 3 longitudinal zones based on the lithological characteristics. 1) Western Charnockite Zone (WCZ) 2) Central Khondalite Zone (CKZ) 3) Eastern Migmatite Zone 7 M/s. Baba Stone Crusher Pre-Feasibility Report Vankayalapadu village, Edlapadu Mandal, Guntur Dt., A.P. The Southern half of the coastal belt is mainly represented by Western Charnockite zone with minor patches of Central Khondalite Zone like near Mangalagiri, where as in the Northern District of Andhra Pradesh, Central Khondalite Zone predominant with bands of Charnockite Rock. 3.5.2 Local Geology Present area constitutes, part of Western Charnockite zone represented mainly of Charnockite and basic granulite with minor banded iron formation. Lithologically the lease area is underlain by Charnockite, which is fresh looking, greasy, dark coloured with domination of hypersthenes, blue quartz minerals in it. The Charnockite in the area forms steepy sloping hills. The rock is medium to coarse grained texture composed of greasy quartz, hypersthene, orthoclase and plagioclase with or without garnet. The rock is massive, with widely spaced vertical to sub vertical joints trending in NE-SW direction. It is observed that sheet joints are absent. Owing to its compact and hardness charnockite with stand to weathering and form huge, steepy sloping dome shaped hills in the area. 3.5.3 Exploration Road metal quarries as the lease area is located on undulating land with surface relief of 30 m. The Road Metals found to be normal in that area, the deposit is being worked out to a maximum height of 30m only from ground level. 3.5.4 Reserves Reserves of Road metal are estimated by Cross Sectional Area method. One cross section was drawn in the lease area and the summary of reserves are given in the below table: TABLE 5.1: Geological Reserves a) Total Geological Reserves S. Sectional Category Section Influence Volume No Area 1 Proved A - A' 1590 128 203520 2 Probable A - A' 432 128 55296 3 Possible A - A' 432 128 55296 Grand Total 439808 8 M/s. No. Section Sectional Area Influence Volume Reserves Blocked Under Benches 1 A - A' 324 128 41472 Reserves Blocked Under 7.5m Buffer Zone 2 A - A' 292 128 37376 Details of Mineable Reserves Mineable reserves are calculated by deducting the reserves blocked under benches and reserves blocked in 7.5 m buffer zone from the total geological reserves. Only proved reserves were considered for calculating the mineable reserves. The details of reserves blocked under benches & safety/buffer zone are given in table below : Reserves in m3 A. Total Proved geological Reserves : 203520 B. Reserves blocked under benches : 41472 C. Reserves blocked under 7.5 m buffer zone : 37376 Mineable Reserves (A-(B+C)) : 124672 Average annual Production : 6000 Life of the mine : =124672/6000 =20.77 say 21 years 100% recovery of the Road metal is considered from the quarry. 3.6 PROJECT DESCRIPTION WITH PROCESS DETAILS 3.6.1 Method of Mining The Road Metal is exposed on the surface. Hence, it is proposed to mine the Road Metal by open cast, using semi-mechanized method, by developing the benches of 3 M height 1.5 M bench width with shallow drilling and blasting. The development of benches will be maintained @ 40 - 60⁰ safety slopes. Drilling Drill holes of 1.5 – 3.0 m depth will be drilled in a staggered pattern at 3 m. interval: 9 M/s.
