AIM

The overall aim of the project is that youth workers and leaders gain knowledge about social inclusion and develop skills to facilitate active participation for all in their rural youth organizations and in their rural communities.

OBJECTIVES The objectives for the project is that the participants:

§ Become aware of young people’s special needs related to physical and mental disabilities, as well as social obstacles § gain knowledge about mechanisms and legislative frames for social inclusion in European countries § gain skills to facilitate inclusive activities, and § plan how to multiply the gained competences in their own organizations and home communities

VENUE The seminar takes place at Gulsrud camp center ( County), one and a half hours from .

The venue is a large camp center, where the participants will be in sleeping dorms in rooms of maximum four. The venue is accessible for people with disabilities. On the venue, there is also an indoor minigolf, different games like air hockey and darts, plus a fireplace. The camp center is situated in a forest area, with Norway’s fifth largest lake as the nearest neighbor.

PARTICIPANT PROFILE Applicants should: • Have an interest in the theme • Be between 18 and 30 years of age, but preferably under 26 years. Participants must be 18 on the first day of the seminar. • Be able to participate in English. • Be active in your own youth organisation. • Be living in Europe (EU and non-EU countries), preference will be given to youth who are involved in a member organisation of Rural Youth Europe.

OUTLINE OF THE PROGRAMME The programme for the week will be based on the four H’s in 4H – Head, Heart, Hands and Health.

• Head/Think – Introduction to the theme, identifying challenges and possibilities in our organisations in regards to social inclusion, raising awareness and changing our mindsets • Heart/Love – Go more into depth and concentrate on issues like compassion, "invisible" disabilities and mental health, through different study visits, roleplays and scenarios. • Health/Move – Focus on physical disabilities and other special needs, through different exercises and excursions. • Do/Hands – Focus on practical arrangements and facilitating for special needs, get hands-on experience from people who have dealt with issues of social inclusion, plus look at how the participants can use this knowledge as multipliers in their own organizations/communities The evening programme will consist of many interesting things to get to know the Norwegian culture and the group – a Viking-evening, a folkdance/music evening and an international evening to mention some.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Please use the enclosed application form and return it by the latest 12th of August 2016 to Rural Youth Europe ([email protected]). The prep team will select participants based on their application and will ensure a balanced group (gender, geographical regions, different types of experiences, cultural backgrounds and organisations). Preference in the selection will be given to two participants per RYEurope member organisation. The applicants will be informed about acceptance soon after deadline.

PARTICIPATION FEE The participation fee will be 250€ for Western participants, 150€ for Eastern participants. The participation fee is to be paid into the following RURAL YOUTH EUROPE bank account by 9th of September 2016:

CANCELLATION POLICY Please be aware that Rural Youth Europe has a “no show” policy claiming full participation fee if the participant does not show up at the seminar or cancels after 9th of September 2016 without sending someone else.

TRAVEL INFORMATION Each participant is responsible for booking his/her own tickets to the seminar. The participants are asked to travel to train station, and we will arrange transport from there. Preferably, the latest arrival time in Drammen should be at 17.00, and the earliest departure from the venue at departure day will be around 08.00. Remember that it takes some time to get to the airport, so keep that in mind (drive from venue to Drammen is approx. 1 hour).

If you arrive at Oslo airport, which is the closest airport, you take the train from the airport to Drammen station. If you arrive at Sandefjord Torp airport, you can take the train from the airport to Drammen station. Information and advice for the train can be found here: https://www.nsb.no/en/our-destinations/airport-by-train If you travel from a nearby country (e.g , , ), train or ferry can possibly be an option. Travel has to be approved by Rural Youth Europe before it is booked.

TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENT

Travel costs will be reimbursed to 50% of costs up to max EUR 250, so the travel reimbursement paid out is up to EUR 125. Additional funding can be paid in case the project budget so allows. Due to the strict funding conditions, please follow these requirements to receive reimbursement: • Travel must be economy class and based on the cheapest means of transport to the venue (Tip: If travelling within Nordic countries, there might be available youth tickets on flights for those under 26 – Especially on SAS and Norwegian flights. We also have very good youth prices in general on domestic travel). • Documentary evidence must be provided for all travel costs: ticket showing travel route and price paid and the date of payment. If the ticket misses information about amount or date of payment, add bank or credit card statement. • Travel reimbursement is made by bank transfer to the national organisations offices of the participants after the funding reports of the projects are accepted. This can take up to 5 months.

VISA AND INSURANCE Rural Youth Europe and 4H Norge will not offer any travel insurance for the participants. Participants are advised to have travel insurance that covers health, and preferably luggage also.

All participants are urged to bring a European Health Card (E111) as travel insurance may not cover costs that should have been covered by an E111. The European Health Card can be ordered for free from your National health care web page/ office. Please make sure that if you need a visa that you apply early enough and keep us updated on the visa application process.
