Outline of angiosperm phylogeny: orders, families, and representative genera with emphasis on Oregon native plants Priscilla Spears December 2013 The following listing gives an introduction to the phylogenetic classification of the flowering plants that has emerged in recent decades, and which is based on nucleic acid sequences as well as morphological and developmental data. This listing emphasizes temperate families of the Northern Hemisphere and is meant as an overview with examples of Oregon native plants. It includes many exotic genera that are grown in Oregon as ornamentals plus other plants of interest worldwide. The genera that are Oregon natives are printed in a blue font. Genera that are exotics are shown in black, however genera in blue may also contain non-native species. Names separated by a slash are alternatives or else the nomenclature is in flux. When several genera have the same common name, the names are separated by commas. The order of the family names is from the linear listing of families in the APG III report. Magheru St., 410048, Oradea, Romania Abstract The present paper reunites the morphological and ecological description of the main species belonging to Potentilla genus present in "Alexandru Beldie" Herbarium from Romanian National Institute for Research and Development in Forestry "Marin Drăcea" (INCDS), Bucharest. Furthermore, the paper systemize the herbarium specimens based on species, harvest year, the place from where they were harvested and the specialist that gathered them. The first part of the article shortly describes the herbarium and its specific, together with a presentation of the material and method used for elaborating this paper. As such, the material that was used is represented by the 276 plates that contain the specimens of 69 species belonging to the Potentilla genus. Besides the description of harvested Potentilla species, the article presents the European map of their harvesting locations, together with a synthetic analysis of their harvesting periods. The paper ends with a series of conclusions regarding the analysis of the Potentilla genus species and specimens present in the herbarium. Key words: herbar, plante, flowers, frunze, Potentilla. This new species is characterized by the leaves bearing heterogeneous circular to elongate pustules and the strongly reflexed perigone seg- ments at anthesis. It is at first sight related to Massonia jasminiflora Burch. ex Baker, M. wittebergensis U.Müll.-Doblies & D.Müll.-Doblies and M. saniensis Wetschnig, Mart.-Azorín & M.Pinter, but differs in vegetative and floral characters, as well as in its allopatric distribution. Abstract Fessia is a genus of bulbous flowering plants in the family Asparagaceae, subfamily Scilloideae (also treated as the family (Hyacinthaceae)). It is distributed from Iran to Central Asia and Pakistan. A number of species of Fessia, often under their earlier names in the genus Scilla. It contains eleven species worldwide and about five species in Iran. In This survey a new taxon is seen that was very similar to Fessia khorassanica and Fessia gorganica but is differernt from points of view from them. The new species is compared with its closest relatives Fessia khorasanica Meikle. is similar to F. khorasanica Meikle in number of stem, leaf shape, pedicle length, bract shape and color, anther color, ovary shape, fruit shape, fruit color, seed shape and ornamentation of surface seed cells. But, differs in Bulbs size bigger, stem being taller, leaf taller, inflorescence taller, perianth color is blue- violet, perianth margin is white, anther size taller, style size taller, stalk of stamen taller, capsule longer, seed shape is elliptic. -

INTRODUCTION In this article, the literature for the past twelve or so years is recorded on the anatomy of Liliaceae, AmarylIidaceae and Iridaceae and the smaller, related families, Alliaceae, Haemodoraceae, Hypoxidaceae, Ruscaceae, Smilacaceae and Trilliaceae. Subjects covered range from embryology, vegetative and floral anatomy to seed anatomy. A format is used in which references are arranged alphabetically, numbered and annotated, so that the reader can rapidly obtain an idea of the range and contents of papers on subjects of particular interest to him. The main research trends have been identified, classified, and check lists compiled for the major headings. Current systematic anatomy on the 'Anatomy of the Monocotyledons' series is reported. Comment is made on areas of research which might prove to be of future significance. -

Omithogalum is currently represented in European Turkey by 13 species. Chromosome num bers, counted on all, are tabulated, and micrographs of somatic metaphase plates are provided. Introduction Ornithogalum is a taxonomically difficult genus, in which c1ear-cut limits between taxa are exceptional, while morphology is poorly correlated with variation in chromosome number and karyotype. According to the Flora ofTurkey (Davis 1984, 1988), the genus is represented in Turkey by 27 species, to which recent publications (Speta 1989, 1990, 1991a-e, 1992, Johnson & al. 1991) have added 15 more. In European Turkey, 13 Orni thogalum species have so far been found, which are grouped into 3 subgenera, as folIows: o. subg. Beryllis (O. pyrenaicum, O. brevistylum); o. subg. Ornithogalum (O. armenia cum, o. orthophyllum, o. comosum, O. fimbriatum, O. montanum, O. oligophyllum, O. sibthorpii, O. refractum, o. umbellatum); and o. subg. Myogalum (O. nutans, O. boucheanum). In agreement with other authors, Ornithogalum L. is considered as a distinct genus in respect to Honorius S. F. Gray and Loncomelos Raf. Accordingly, the ltalian taxa of Ornithogalum s. str. are here listed and briefly commented in a frame of their classical morphological and kary ological characters. o. umbellalum L. is represented by different polyploid cytotypes ( 2n= 27, 36, 45, 54, 90 and 108, with or without B chromosomes). Doubts about the possibility to dis criminate o. vulgare Sailer in such a variable complex are expressed. o. divergens Boreau (2n=54 + B), o. orthophyllum Ten. (2n=I8), o. exscapum Ten. (2n=I8) and o. ambiguum Terracciano (2n= I8) are probably in relation with o. corsicum Jordan & Fourr. (2n= 18). o. adalgisae Groves (2n=45, 54), o. refractum Kit. (2n=54) and O. brulium Terracciano (2n=36, 45,54 + B, 72) constitute a group ofunits whose affinity and distribution must be further evaI uated. o. kochii ParI. (2n=I8 + B), looks very similar to o. monticolum Jordan. & Foun·. (2n=20). o. collinum Guss. (2n=18), according with our records, is present only in Sicily. o. comosum L. (2n=18), belonging to sect. Obtusangula Zahar., is distributed from north-eastem Italy to Sicily. -

FELIX1 (received: August 10, 2006; accepted: May 15, 2008) ABSTRACT – (Intrapopulational chromosome number variation in Zephyranthes sylvatica Baker (Amaryllidaceae: Hippeastreae) from Northeast Brazil). Zephyranthes Herb. is a taxonomically complex and cytologically variable group, with about 65 species of Neotropical distribution. Chromosome number variability in 32 individuals of a Zephyranthes sylvatica population from Northeast Brazil was investigated. Three cytotypes were found: 2n = 12 (one metacentric, four submetacentric and one acrocentric pairs), in 24 individuals; 2n = 12 + 1B, in five and three individuals with 2n = 18, a triploid cytotype. All diploid individuals showed chromosomes with polymorphism in pair one and two, while in triploids this polymorphism was observed in all chromosome triplets, generally with two homomorphic chromosomes and a higher or lower heteromorphic chromosome. All individuals had reticulated interfasic nucleus and a slightly asymmetric chromosome complement, with one metacentric chromosome pair and the others more submetacentric to acrocentric. These data confirm the cytological variability previously registered for the genus. Mechanisms involved in karyotypic evolution in this population are discussed.
