What is the Book Nook? The Book Nook is a reading center for families. Kids and kids-at-heart can borrow and read books that are proudly Pinoy.

Why was The Book Nook Set up?

The The Book Nook is an initiative of the National Book BOOK Development Board to help provide friendly reading spaces in areas where there are limited access to reading materials NO K TM By The National Book Development Board and the internet. The space serves as a resource center for children, their parents, and teachers to encourage them to read critically and write their own stories. Aside from reading, there will be storytelling, arts and craft, reading or writing workshops, and book club meetings. Readers can also arrange their own events! Depending on the pandemic situation in each area, programs will either be in person or online.

Can anyone visit The Book Nook?

Yes! We have books for kids and kids-at-heart. About 65-70% of our titles are for kids and teens. We also have about 30-35% dedicated to adults. Anyone may visit the Book Nook and choose from our Books. Each Book Nook will have different rules depending on the pandemic situation in their area. The Book Nook carries fiction, non-fiction books, and reference books that focus on the following topics:

Culture, History, Art, Values, Environment, Health, Science, Work, Identity, Diversity, and Peace

Are their books in our language?

Our books are in Filipino, English, and languages from around the country. The Book Nook encourages communities to write their own stories. Let us know if you have a story or if there are books that you would like to see in The Book Nook!

Do I have to pay to borrow a book? No, the program is completely FREE! You simply pay for the cost of the registration card at PhP 10.00

NO K TM By The National Book Development Board The 52 Book Nook Sites

Book Nook sites are open from 10am-4pm, Tuesday-Saturday

The 3rd Floor of the Bontoc Public Market serves as the Book Nook site.

Brgy. Anos, Los Baños, Laguna in partnership with The Arts Research and Training Institute in Southern Tagalog, Incorporated (ARTIST, Inc.) hosts the Book Nook site.

The shelves in the second floor of the old Municipal Building of Kabankalan, converted as City Cultural Hub for use of the Book Nook Project. The Hub, located within the Kabankalan City Public Plaza-Catholic Church- Central Public Elementary School-Public Market Circuit, will be the site of the Book Nook Project.

A mobile Book Nook is set to rise in Zumarraga, Samar that will serve various schools in the islands of Zumarraga and Daram. Mualbual National High School will be home to quality Filipino- authored books.

In partnership with South Ubian National High School, a Book Nook will be established in Brgy. Tabawan, South Ubian, Tawi-Tawi to cater to the needs of the Sama groups, Jama Mapun and Tausug communities.

On this site in Columbio, Sultan Kudarat will rise the Book Nook project as a safe and friendly reading center that will serve Blaan and A day care center is turned into a Book Manobo readers. Nook site in Sitangkai, Tawi-Tawi to cater the needs of Tausug, Sama-Bajau, and other indigenous communities.
