Your Solutions Taradale Coach Report

Welcome to Palmerston North End for today's Federation League match. It is great to have inter region football back at Taradale Park after a season's break and a special welcome to our new team sponsor Your Solutions. Giving players an opportunity to play at a higher level is a 'no brainer' for me contrary to recent reports. I applaud the club for driving this.

Last weekend we produced a solid away performance in Wanganui. Our 1st half performance was particularly pleasing for a season opener and our resolve in the 2nd half where they came at us was also a positive. Man of the match was Greg Jackson. Jacko stepped into left back, late in my thinking and was strong in performance and leadership. Well done to James Harris and Tia Aoake who made their 1st team debuts for the Club.

I have been asking the players for a high work rate and positive attitude every week and this must continue today against Palmerston North End. Add to this continuing improvement in and out of procession and we will be on the right track. Our performance last week appeared similar to that of Palmerston North End in that we were not put under a lot of pressure at the back but we can still tighten up more there and we also have a lot more to show on attack as well.

Good luck to Robbie and his team for their game against Napier City. My squad benefited from working with the experienced players in the Premiership team during pre season and we look forward to supporting them today. A double header at Taradale Park is a great way for the team and our supporters to start their season.

Cape Physio Taradale AFC Coach Report

Welcome to Taradale Park for today's Premiership game against Napier City Rovers. With both sides suffering losses in the opening round last week I'm sure your going to see 2 teams desperate to get their campaigns under way.

After what was considered a promising pre-season, last week's performance from our side was very disappointing. Although we were missing 6 players from our squad of 19, I still felt we had enough experience and quality to get the job done. Unfortunately 5 - 6 players performed well below what they are capable of and when that happens a side is always going to struggle. Our intensity and organisation weren't what they should be and for me both of these facets derive from good strong communication within the side. This has been addressed during the week and hopefully today we'll see a marked improvement.

Again we'll be without key players this week, with Adam Turner and Manton Collings both away and Richard Gearey, Mike Daly, Calvin Mills and Heath Caldwell still recovering from injuries. However the return of both Leon Birnie and Moritz Lua will provide us with attacking options.

I expect another really tough game today - Rovers will be a predominantly young side, fit and full of running and with the Central League side playing tomorrow they may well be boosted by the inclusion of 1st team squad members. I also expect they'll look to play football (as we always do) and provided we can both get to grips with what is a difficult playing surface, it should make for an entertaining match.

Lastly, congratulations to Macca and the 1st team boys on an excellent start to your season last weekend and good luck for the game later this afternoon.

Cheers
