DORP has been relentlessly working for the economically disadvantaged rural people of Bangladesh over a period of 32 years with a noble ideology. We are going through a difficult time due to the global pandemic that has affected every sector of the country including the Non- Government Organisations. However, our DORP team have shown great courage and strength in facing the threat caused by the pandemic. They have adopted the new ways of work including the social distancing and other restrictions and regulations imposed on u s for the safety of ourselves and others. The pandemic couldn’t stop the great work we have been doing through the years. I also would like t o thank our Honourable Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina for her great leadership and success in managing this unforeseen calamity. Unlike many other similar organisations, DORP has its unique commitments for the total development of the rural poor specially the underprivileged mothers, which has achieved enormous success in the fields of income generation, women empowerment, self- reliance and family health. DORP innovated maternity allowance: a safety-net program for the poor expecting mothers which is being implemented by the Government of Bangladesh. It benefits about a millon mothers throughout the country every year. The five-pillar SAPNA package has given tremendous outcomes in respect of the improvement of the living standards of vulnerable mothers. Bangladesh Government has piloted the project and found distinctive results.. We hope the Government will accept to incorporate the program in their annual budget. In the re-settlement sector DORP has earned a unique place with the help of a team of staff members vastly experienced in this field. Education is also an area of expertise for DORP with their extensive experience and many fruitful achievements in this sector. WASH is another unique project of DORP, in which it works with the international development partners. It mainly operates in the coastal districts of southern Bangladesh. This project supports people directly or indirectly regarding safe drinking water, sanitation and health with a view to improving their living status. I am always indebted to the respective officers of the Ministries of Women and Children Affairs, Health, Education, Railway, Energy, Local Government and others for their help and cooperation. I deeply thank PKSF and Bank Authorities who are rendering help to DORP for running its micro-finance program for poverty alleviation. I am very thankful to the members of the DORP Executive Committee whose active participation and services for the best of the organisation is really praisworthy. Our advisors are always our great strength. The Founder and CEO of DORP Mr. AHM Nouman with his vast experience of about 50 years in this sector and innovative ideas has led the organisation to its current position. His dynamic leadership is unparallel in the NGO arena. Our committed staff are sincere and dedicated to work for the organisation. I thank them for their exemplary services. I believe DORP will continue to strive towards its expected goal in the years to come. Md. Azher Ali Talukder Chairman, DORP Additional Secretary (Retd). The Pandemic Year 2020: Towards The Sustainability of DORP After the impact of COVID-19, the Situation is an indicator of one thing, i.e. Change Our Country recedes into the cocoon of `Bangladesh First’ and the glorified Democratic Norms are dilema all around the World. Undergoing these Challenging Circumstances, major issues of the Pandemic are to analyze the changes in geopolitical perspective occuring on the global stage amid COVID-19 Spread. We are struggling to fight the Pandemic on three fronts I. Resources allocation to strengthen against COVID-19, II. How to minimize the adverse impact on common people? III. Designing of stimulus packages to revive economy in post-COVID-19 era. In conjunction of our Government headed by our Honorable Farsighted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the pathway of handling the Pandemic. Neither DORP had suspended any kind of programs or projects, nor the remuneration of any employees had postponed without any discrimination; even more without any kind of “Incentive Allowance” (cÖ‡Yv`bv fvZv) neither from the Government, PKSF or Bank. DORP is struggling and moving ahead for Sustainability and we, are ‘Working’ for “Connecting the Disconnects”. As part of the consolidation to work for the efforts and resources towards attainment to fulfill the targets of SDG Goals, DORP is Implementing sector wise development oriented programmes and projects including Resettlement, Environment & Climate Change, WASH and Micro-Finance like i) Padma Bridge Rail Link Project (PBRLP) with Income Livelihood Restoration Program (ILRP), under Construction Supervision Consultant (CSC) of Bangladesh Army; ii) Dohazari - Cox’s Bazar Rail Line Construction Project (DCRLCP) Bangladesh Railway, iii) Dhaka Environmentally Sustainable Water Supply Project (DESWSP) under Dhaka WASA of Ministry of LGRD&C. iv) Chattagram-Feni-Bakhrabad Gas Transmission Parallel Pipeline Project - GTCL v)
