DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN MIDTOWN MANHATTAN DANIA BEACH HIALEAH 151 Lawrence Street 1293 Broadway, One Herald Center 225 E Dania Beach Blvd, Suite 120 530 West 49th Street Brooklyn, NY 11201 , NY 10001 Dania Beach, FL 33004 Hialeah, FL 33012 Tel: 718-522-9073 Tel: 212-672-6450 Tel: 786-279-1740 Tel: 786-279-2643 ASA College (ASA) is committed to providing a safe environment for both students and employees. Sexual Misconduct can be psychologically and physically traumatic and is most certainly a violation of one’s rights. There are on-campus and community resources available to help students and employees.

Students and/or employees who have experienced Sexual Misconduct are referred as “complainants.” Students and/or employees who are accused of Sexual Misconduct are referred to as “respondents.” This document pro- vides resources and information for both complainants and respondents. This Resource Packet should be read in the context of ASA’s Sexual Miscon- duct Policy (the “Policy”) available at http://www.asa.edu/title-ix.asp.

Reasonable and appropriate supportive measures and accommodations are available for complainants and respondents regardless of whether an investigation under the applicable procedures is pursued. I. EMERGENCY MEDICAL ASSISTANCE PROVIDERS, LAW ENFORCEMENT, CAMPUS AUTHORITIES, AND CRISIS RESPONSE RESOURCES

A. MEDICAL ASSISTANCE ASA encourages individuals to seek medical attention following an incident of sexual assault. Complainants are also encouraged to obtain help from a professional counselor, who can provide information and advice about available medical options. Local medical providers can provide emergency and follow-up medical services to address physical well-being or health concerns and conduct forensic sexual assault examinations. A medical exam obtained from a hospital or a sexual assault response center serves two purposes: first, to diagnose and treat the full extent of an injury or physical effect (sexually transmitted infection (STI) or possibility of pregnancy) and second, to properly collect and preserve evidence. The exam may include testing and prophylactic treatment for HIV/AIDS, STIs, and pregnancy, a vaginal/anal examination, etc. There is a limited window of time (typically 72-96 hours) following an incident of sexual assault to preserve physical and other forms of evidence. Taking the steps to gather evidence immediately does not commit an individual to any course of action. The decision to seek medical attention and gather any evidence will preserve the full range of options to seek resolution through ASA’s complaint processes or criminal action.
