Letters of Support needed for SB 142 by June 19

Because of your support, SB 142(Senator Wiener) successfully passed out of the California Senate and is now being heard in California Assembly Labor and Employment Committee on June 26. We need your organization, coalition, or individual letter of support by Wednesday, June 19, before the hearing. Be part of movement to improve lactation support in the workplace!

Action Needed:

1. Download the template letter of support. Follow the instructions on the letter. 2. Send your letter of support to Assembly Labor and Employment Committee using the portal at https://calegislation.lc.ca.gov/Advocates/. Background:

Senate Bill 142 addresses the barriers working parent's face that make it difficult to maintain breastfeeding after returning to work by doing the following:

Requires employers to have a written lactation policy and to provide employees with a safe and comfortable lactation space that meets minimum requirements. Requires the California Building Standards Commission to develop and propose for adoption building standards for the installation of lactation space for employees. Encourages the Department of Labor Standards Enforcement to provide a set of lactation accommodation best practices and a model policy for employers.
