Dowell’s Stage Director Christopher Carr interpretation, based on the version created by Petipa and Ivanov for the 1895 St. Petersburg production and described Odette Natalia Osipova as a “yardstick for others” (New York Times), is here renewed Prince Siegfried Matthew Golding through first-class performances from Natalia Osipova, who is The Princess (Siegfried’s Mother) Elizabeth McGorian riveting in the illustrious double role of Odette-Odile; Matthew Sorcerer Rothbart Gary Avis Golding, who brings “brilliance and prowess” (New York Times) The Tutor Alastair Marriott to the role of Prince Siegfried; and Gary Avis as the evil Von Rothbart, described as “an electrifying villain” by the Daily Video Director Ross McGibbon Telegraph. Veteran ballet conductor Boris Gruzin creates a “plangent and pliant”-sounding score (The Arts Desk), while Length: 133' ’s Fabergé-inspired designs add to the magic Shot in HDTV 1080/50i of this immensely detailed production.
