Under coach Tite, the team has seen a turnaround, and what could have been a difficult road to Russia turned out to be a straightforward one. It’s really great to see the way the boys have responded to Tite. They are pushing themselves and working hard, and responsibly, to reach top form. They have carried their qualification form into the warm-ups over the last few weeks, and are displaying the right attitude and desire. And this means that fans are now again excited about their team. The defence of the team has proved to be unquestionable under Tite with a clean sheet in 16 games out of 21 games. From the middle to the front the performance of the new version of the “magic square”, formed by Neymar, Gabriel Jesus, Willian and Philippe Coutinho, has been indisputable. This tactic has been productive for the attack and it is the individual quality of the players that has brought the results.

    Sociolinguistic ISSN: 1750-8649 (print) Studies ISSN: 1750-8657 (online) Article Semioscaping Eutopia: Qatar as a place in Qatar Airways advertisements Irene Theodoropoulou Abstract This paper deals with place branding as a multimodally constructed phenomenon in the digital semioscape of advertisements pertaining to the collaboration between Qatar Airways and FC Barcelona. Through its digital spatialisation, Qatar, and, by extension, Qatari leadership of the country, is argued to construct for and brand itself as an image of eutopia (i.e. a nice place to live) drawing on two techniques, inter-peopleisation and reterritorialisation. In this way, Qatar aims at engaging in controversially conveyed soft politics, whereby it can strategically secure its national sustainability by achieving recognizability, admiration and respect both inside and outside its borders. Qatar Airways’ semioscape is also argued to be a visceral semioscape, whose analysis creates academic fetish, namely added value for Qatar in academic scholarship from a person who has been living and working in the country for nine years. It is important to have such emic reflections, in order to do justice to a country that is usually portrayed in very negative and distorted terms in world media, by people who do not have deep knowledge of the country and its people. Otra pérdida muy dolorosa para nosotros los cubanos fue la del “profe” Ismael Sené. Una enciclopedia de historia y anécdotas de Cuba y del deporte, sobretodo, del béisbol. Sené nos dejó un enorme hueco que será difícil llenar. Para él, dedicamos una crónica, como 42 humilde homenaje a su labor y principalmente a su persona. También repasamos la extraordinaria carrera del arquero ale- mán “Sepp” Maier, uno de esos inolvidables del fútbol mundial.
