From the viewpoint of the considered relationship, the studies results make possible to think about the probability of a risk factor on several aspects: The reservoir was built in 2007, and to this day the water area has been expanding without taking into account the necessary distance from the mud volcano. Excluding the north-eastern part the mud volcano, other sides of its crater buried beneath the Reservoir water. Due to the daily activity of the mud volcano, heavy toxic metals, gases, radioactive elements and etc. have been ejecting to the Earth’s surface in the compositions of various phase of volcanic products and directly contact with the Reservior water. Expansion the Reservoir area and water volume leads to increase in additional geostatistical pressure in volcanic area. In addition, the mud volcano is located near the Shamakhi-Ismayilli active seismic zone in Azerbaijan. Both factors increase the eruption risk the volcano that has been “asleep” for many years.

The large distribution of local varieties and their wild relatives in the republic is presented. The main bio-morphological and economic characteristics of the samples are determined. The essential differences between varieties and wild samples were is defined. As a result their areal was determined, mechanical and chemical composition of fruits, biological- agricultural traits of collected varieties and wild forms were evaluated. Results indicated that in Azerbaijan wild grape samples are spread widely in large areas and along the banks and shores of river, lake and sea, and on mountain slopes. There are two kinds of wild grape in Azerbaijan: typica Negr. (with hairs) and aberrans Negr. (hairless). At present more than 600 local and introduced grape varieties are spread in Azerbaijan, of which more than 100 varieties are threatened. White, red, black and pink coloured table, technical and universal grape varieties are cultivated. Salt and drought tolerant varieties also reported. Most of the local threatened varieties are conserved for utilizing them in future improvement programme. Keywords: Biodiversity, genetic resources of grapes, local varieties and wild grapes. Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the National Academy of Sciences, Baku, e-mail: [email protected] There are 2508 mud volcanoes and mud volcanic manifestations in 42 geographical regions of the world. The territory of Eastern Azerbaijan and the adjacent water area of the Southern Caspian Basin characterize by the widest spread of mud volcanoes on a global scale. The total number of mud volcanoes and mud volcanic manifestations in Azerbaijan is 353 (154 of them are marine). In comparison with other geographical regions, mud volcanoes of Azerbaijan also distinguish by the number of eruptions and daily gryphon, sopka and salse activity. In addition, Azerbaijan is a unique country, because all types of mud volcanoes were registered here. From this point of view, mud volcanoes of Azerbaijan provide favorable conditions for research of their activ- ity and environmental hazard. Related to the daily activity of mud volcanoes, the composition and quantity of the emitted gases into the atmosphere, as well as mineralization degree and chemical types of waters, and the organic and element composition of the breccias were studied. The zones with high anomalous-radioactive background on the crater area of the volcanoes were revealed and the reasons for their occurrence were ex- plained. It was stablished an associative relationship between the increasing of gamma level and the concentra- tion of uranium for the breccia samples selected from the area has high radioactive background.

Acta Biologica Sibirica, 2019, 5(3), 62-117, doi: https://doi.org/10.14258/abs.v5.i3.6433 RESEARCH ARTICLE A catalogue of butterflies (Lepidoptera, Rhopalocera) of Azerbaijan N.Y. Snegovaya, V.A. Petrov Zoological Institute National Academy of Science of Azerbaijan A. Abbaszade St. 1128, Baky, Azerbaijan, E-mail: [email protected] National Museum of Georgia Rustaveli Ave. 3, Tbilisi, Georgia, E-mail: [email protected] An annotated list of butterflies from Azerbaijan, containing 280 species, is presented. The classification and nomenclature in this work are accepted according to the key of Korb & Bolshakov (2016). The full list of species composition of butterflies of Azerbaijan numbering 280 species for today is presented for the first time, and it was supplemented by new materials collected by the first author from 2012 to 2019. We came up with the list of the total species composition of butterflies in Azerbaijan, which currently includes 280 species from 6 families (Hesperiidae - 37, Papilionidae - 10, Pieridae - 28, Lycaenidae - 100, Riodinidae - 1, Nimphalidae - 104) for today was compiled. We record Papilio demoleus demoleus Linnaeus, 1758 as a new species for the fauna of the Caucasus. Our results will help to continue biodiversity study and expand the information on the distribution of the butterflies (Papilionoformes) in Azerbaijan and the Caucasus. Key words: butterflies; Azerbaijan; catalogue; Lepidoptera Rhopalocera or butterflies are one of the popular groups of insects, which are an important component of terrestrial biocenoses.
