Dear Parents and Carers,

Year 6 residential trip The children have had a very exciting week at Caythorpe Court taking part in a wide range of activities including raft building, abseiling and quad biking. Thank you to Mr Baylis, Mrs Russell, Miss Knights and Mrs Pemberton for accompanying the children and helping them to have such an enjoyable experience.

Year 4 class assembly Well done to the pupils in year 4 who shared all of the adventures from Rock UK in their class assembly. The children should be proud of their many achievements and new experiences from the trip, thank you to the year four team for all the hard work that went into preparing the assembly.

4+ class assembly It was fantastic to see our youngest pupils perform their class assembly. They told the story of the little diplodocus with great enthusiasm and should be delighted with their achievements. Well done to Mrs Edwards, Mrs Maclean, Mrs Hayward and Miss Rai.

Staffing We would like to thank Miss Rai for all of her super contributions to the four plus class this term and wish her luck in her career.

Characteristic Champions This week’s champions, chosen for showing improvement are: Zuri, Josh, Benedict, Bella, Alfie, James

Year 1 and 2 multi-skills Well done to the pupils who took part in the multi-skills morning organised by Robert Smyth . The children had a great time taking part in the various activities alongside pupils from the other schools. Thank you to staff who supported the children and to the Sports Leaders and staff at Robert Smyth for organising the event.

Year 5 visit to Welland Park Academy The year 5 class enjoyed a visit to Welland Park Academy this week to take part in a technology day. They enjoyed various challenges and greatly appreciated the chance to use the equipment and facilities in the school. Thank you to the staff who organised the event.

Athletics Well done to the athletics squad who took part in the area championship. The squad of pupils from years three, four, five and six enjoyed competing in various track and field events and should be

Swimming Gala Well done to the team of year 3 and 5 pupils who swam in the South Leicestershire Collaborative Partnership Gala held at finishing in third place overall. The team swam brilliantly, with many of the pupils swimming in older age groups. Thank you to Miss Parker for coaching the squad.

Sports Day Refreshments - Thursday 28th June We have been given permission to sell drinks at the School Sports Day next week - we are likely to be offering squash and water only as the weather looks set to be warm. Please be aware that we are only allowed to sell to spectators and not to the school children themselves. If anyone would like to help man the stall for a short period of time during the event, please let us know.

Summer Fete - Saturday 7th July 11.30am - 2.00pm Everyone should have received a letter about the fete, along with raffle tickets to purchase / sell, in the book bags last week. If you didn't get them, or need some more, please talk to Mrs Smith in the office.

We have started to announce raffle prizes on our Facebook Page. Our top prize is a Photoshoot and 8" Framed Print from Stu Williamson Photography. Other prizes announced so far -

BBQ - we are looking for a few more volunteers to help man the BBQ - please get in contact if you are able to offer an hour of your time between 11am and 2pm.

Non-Uniform Day - We have a non-uniform day planned for Friday 29th June in exchange for a donation of sweets or bottles for the tombola. Children are invited to come dressed in any sports related gear in celebration of the World Cup.

Lucky Dip Gift Bags - We would be grateful for any donations that you would like to make, either of a gift bag with items in, or items that we can use to make up a gift bag, for our Lucky Dip Gift Bag stall (previously the Jam Jar Stall). You can include anything you like in the gift bags but please make sure the items are brand new. A few examples are sweets, books, toys and homeware. Please leave donations at the school office by Wednesday 4th July marked for the attention of Maria Henderson.
