It was announced by Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu during the Swachh Survekshan 2016 award function held in New Delhi. Key Facts The rankings of the Swachh Survekshan Survey 2016 were conducted by Quality Council of India (QCI) as part of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’. The survey was conducted to measure the impact of efforts under Swachh Bharat Mission for solid waste management, construction of toilets and service delivery level. In this ranking list, 15 cities have scored more than 70% of the total marks of 2000 and were categorized as Leaders. 20 cities have scored in the range of 60%-70% were categorized as Aspiring Leaders and those cities with scores in the range of 50%-60% need to accelerate their efforts. Cities that have scored below 50% are named Slow Movers and need to work harder to improve sanitation.
