Rick Hirtensteiner, who has been on staff with Pepperdine for 18 years, took over as head coach of the program following Rodriguez’s departure in 2015. In Hirtensteiner’s fi rst season at the helm (2016), the Waves posted their fi fth consecutive winning season with a 29-24 mark and made the WCC Tournament for the third straight year.
