Over the last 5 years CAHA has experienced a continue decrease in players across all associations. Associations experiencing any level of increase of players over the last year has been nominal at best. Those 6 programs added a total of 111 players whereas CAHA realized a statewide decrease of 1,542 players. The top 14 programs average an 18% decrease in membership.

We at Colorado Select Girls Hockey Association (CSGHA) are dedicated to promoting and advancing girls’ hockey in Colorado.

Our vision of a CAHA Partnership: • We have dedicated 2 full time position to the advancement of girls hockey • We will have 1 board member attend each CAHA board meeting going forward • Our is to help double the number of girl players statewide • Our comprehensive Program from Tier I to our learn to skate programs will serve as a foundation to attract and retain female athletes. • Other opportunities to attract new players – floorball etc. STRATEGIC ALLIANCE

• USA Hockey – Select maintains a robust relationship with USA Hockey as the only Independent all Girls Hockey Association as a Model Program • CAHA – Select shares the CAHA vision on growing the game and is committed to obtaining that vision along with CAHA. • MSGHL & Other Girls Associations – We strive to collaborate with associations across the state to bring best practices in female specific development, training and coaching. • Thunderbirds – Select is excited to announce we are working on a Strategic Alliance with the Colorado Thunderbirds. • CSGHA is celebrating it’s 15th season as the only all girls independent hockey association in the State. • We continue to proudly represent the state of Colorado in the world of hockey by pulling the regions best female hockey players to give them the opportunity to play beyond the Tier I level. • Our strategic relationships with USA Hockey, CAHA and the Thunderbirds allows girls to reap the benefits of all of those resources in a program structure to meet the needs of elite female athletes. • Our transition over the last year has been nothing short of a challenge. As with all associations we work towards the silence of the disgruntled parents and elimination of bad coaches. • Our future is bright as we incorporate our past while using our present successes to grow the game organically statewide. Colorado Select Girls Hockey Association (CSGHA) is dedicated to promoting and advancing girls’ hockey in Colorado. We provide girls the opportunity to develop to their full athletic potential in a well-organized, age-appropriate and competitive atmosphere to achieve their varied goals, mature and develop as young female athletes, and most importantly, have fun.

CAHA Tier Vice President. • Dell Truax – USA Hockey Level 5 Coach, Coaching Education Program Instructor for USA Hockey, CSGHA 14U AA Head Coach. CSGHA was the first and currently still is the only independent, all- girls hockey association in Colorado. While proud of the program we delivered to our members in the past, the CSGHA Board and DOH were looking for ways to better serve our members. Becoming a USA Model Association in 2013-14 was the logical next step:

Player to Player Mentor Program A unique program that aligns younger teams with older teams. COLORADO SELECT TIER I PROGRAM SELECT PURPOSE OF A TIER I PROGRAM

Through organic growth our goal is to give all girls in Colorado the opportunity to live their dream of becoming the next Olympian, being placed on a national team or to play Division I, Division III or ACHA hockey.

Since our inception we have placed an average of six (6) eligible girls at the collegiate or national level each year. GIRLS TIER I IS DIFFERENT • Girls do not have the usual options of boys at the next level

• Women’s College Hockey programs do not recruit players out of Youth Tournaments (very, very atypical)
