First of all, I would like to thank my technical advisor Annu Prabhakar. She has provided direction, encouragment, and an occasional shove throughout this year-long process. I appreciate her frienship also, as we have connected on a colleague level as opposed to just student/professor. To Brett Rexroat for pointing me in the right direction when I was unsure of where to go. He was also very helpful in debugging some stubborn code issues, and always succeeded in making me laugh. To my children for understanding my need for quiet, and getting why I occasionally needed to miss a concert or game to work on my project. For putting up with my crabbiness when stress levels got high, and pointing out that my lecturing them on procrastination was hypocritical.

  • Virtual Gala Ball an EVENING of ENTERTAINMENT & FUNDRAISING
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH Virtual Gala Ball AN EVENING OF ENTERTAINMENT & FUNDRAISING Saturday, 17 October 2020 5.00pm – 7.00pm THANK YOU FOR JOINING US FOR OUR FIRST-EVER CHILDREN FIRST FOUNDATION VIRTUAL GALA BALL. Despite many things being different this year, the heart of this event remains the same. All funds raised this evening will enable disadvantaged children from developing countries to access medical care they desperately need. The life-changing, and sometimes life-saving surgeries these kids need are not possible in their own countries. By collaborating with exceptional Australian surgeons, health professionals and hospitals, Children First Foundation enables these children to access world-class medical care in Australia, and a chance to transform their lives. Pre and post-surgery, our Retreat in Kilmore offers a home-away-from-home for the children as they prepare for and recover from surgery – we’ll be popping in there live during the evening to say hello. 24/7 holistic care is provided by a team of skilled and dedicated staff and volunteers to maximise the result of the surgery. Our goal is to have the kids return home, happy and healthy, with a brighter future ahead of them. Children First Foundation does not receive any government support; we rely on donors and fundraising events to support our work. The largest of these events is our annual Gala Ball. This year, however, it’s not business as usual and, of course, we are unable to host this event as we normally do. In channelling the spirit of the kids we work with, we are refusing to give up and are proud to share this new style of event with you.
