RETIREMENT MESSAGE

MWO Darcy Morier, CD1, WEAPONS TECHNICIAN

After 31 plus years of dedicated and loyal service in the (CAF) and RCEME Corps, MWO Darcy Morier will retire on 8 July 2019.

In January 1988 MWO Morier enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in Vancouver, BC. Upon completing his basic training at CFB Cornwallis he started his QL3 as a Weapons Technician (Wpns Tech) at CFSEME in March 1988.

Once completed he was posted to 5 Service Battalion in Valcartier to complete his QL4 On Job Training, July 1991 he was posted to 2nd Battalion Royal 22e Regiment, and in April of 1992 he returned to CFSEME for his QL5 course.

In June 1993 he was posted to CFB Toronto where he was attach posted to 1st Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment Canadian Infantry Battle Group and deployed on Op Harmony in Croatia from October 1994-April 1995.

In August 1995 he was posted to 42nd Field Artillery Regiment in Pembroke Ont where he completed his junior leadership course (non Infantry) and basic parachuting course.

He was then posted to the 2nd Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillery in Petawawa in July 1997 and completed the Wpns Tech (L) course for the M-109 and 105MM MK2 Howitzer as well as being appointed to the rank of MCpl.

Not staying too long he was posted in 2000 to CFB Halifax detachment Sydney Cape Breton where he completed the High Security Containers course and QL6AWpns Tech Supervisor course.

Promoted to Sgt in July 2004 he was posted again, this time to the 2nd Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment in Gagetown where he deployed to Afghanistan with Roto 3 from 21 January to 30 August 2007 and completed his Intermediate Leadership Program.

In 2009 he was promoted to Warrant Officer and posted just across the street to the 5th Canadian Support Base Gagetown Base Maintenance.

In July of 2011 MWO Morier was able to get posted to the Trials and Evaluation unit where he attended his Maintenance Manager course and was promoted to his current rank July 2012.

MWO Morier found himself posted again this time to Ottawa as the Life Cycle Material Manager for C16 Grenade Launcher, C6, C9 and .50 Cal Machine Guns and mounts. During this posting he completed multiple courses to include the Advance Leadership Program. July 2014 MWO Morier was posted to the 3rd Canadian Support Base Edmonton, sunny detachment Wainwright as the ETQMS. MWO Morier was posted to CFB Gagetown July 2017 as the RCEME Common Qualification Standard and Training Plan manager. MWO Morier completed the Senior Leadership Program in September 2018.

Darcy is planning on staying in the local area with his partner Skye, so that he can spend more time with his children and grandchildren. In his spare time Darcy will be camping around the Maritimes and chasing golf balls around the Gagetown golf course, mostly in the wooded areas. He would like to express his sincere gratitude to all those he has served with and for during his illustrious career.

The official Retirement Ceremony will commence at “The Bunker” located in the Oromocto mall, 1198 Onondaga St, Oromocto, N.B (Pizza Delight) at 1300hrs on 05 July 2019.
