CP Skips for Good Food 2017 community campaign distributes over $30,000 worth of food hampers for beneficiaries in South East District

- The campaign achieved its aim of 1,000,000 skips in exchange for 1,000 food hampers for beneficiaries in the South East District – garnering a total of 4,385,692 skips - Over 6,000 residents and families have benefited from this food assistance campaign since the 2012 introduction, collecting over 11 million skips through the years

Singapore, 18 April 2017 – Following the successful conclusion of CP Skips for Good Food 2017, a community campaign to raise skips in exchange for food hampers – CP Foods commences the distribution of food hampers at Block 52 Cassia Crescent this morning. Cassia Crescent is a new block of flats that houses the former residents of Dakota Crescent.

Mr , MP of Mountbatten SMC, and Dr , Mayor of South East District, were in attendance to distribute the food hampers to the beneficiaries staying at Cassia Crescent. To close the successful campaign, a lunch was organised by South East CDC and CP Foods for the seniors of Cassia Crescent.

A total of 1,000 beneficiaries, residents and families in the South East District benefitted from this initiative with food hampers worth $30,000. The campaign, which commenced on 1 February 2017 concluded on 3 March 2017, raising a total of 4,385,692 skips with the help from over 13,000 students.

Ms Joyce Yap, Vice President of CP Foods said, “CP Skips for Good Food has always been one of the most meaningful initiatives undertaken by CP Foods. It is heart-warming to see students get together to raise skips for a good cause and we hope to inspire them to always help fellow Singaporeans in times of difficulty through the sportsmanship and tenacity displayed through the campaign. We are happy to have the opportunity today to represent the well-wishes of fellow Singaporeans and present the food hampers to those in need”.

Dr Maliki Osman, Mayor of South East District added, “We are happy to collaborate once again with CP Foods for this very meaningful project which has a very simple message: We can help others in the community with the simplest of acts, which is, in this case, skipping. We are heartened that CP Skips for Good Food continues to receive support from members of South East community from all walks of life, including our corporate citizens. We hope that more from the community will take part in such meaningful projects, while at the same time, being able to help the low income families in the South East District.”

Mr Lim Biow Chuan, MP of Mountbatten SMC shared, “Doing good can take place anytime and in any form. While skipping may be a simple activity, through the combined effort from each of us, it brings forth a positive impact in our community, reinforcing the caring and inclusive spirit in our district.””

The CP Skips for Good Food initiative was first introduced by CP Foods and South East CDC in 2012. Since then, over 11 million skips were collected and over 6,000 residents and families benefited from the food assistance campaign.
