Beyond The Patriot Act is the first show in the new series entitled The ACLU Freedom Files, produced by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and award-winning producer/director ( Uncovered: The War, Outfoxed: ’s War on Journalism ). This episode takes a deeper look into the ramifications of the USA Patriot Act and explores the personal effects it and related new laws have had on American citizens like…

• Patricia David and her daughter Jasmine who live alone and almost destitute in Houston after her husband was shipped off to Pakistan where he has been beaten for being a Christian;

• Rae and her children in Mesquite Texas share the loss of her husband Mahmoud Alafyouny who has been detained in prison for 16 months for raising money 20 years ago for charities supported by the PLO;

• Abdulameer Habeeb - an Iraqi artist tortured under Sadaam's regime - who was arrested while traveling across country for a new job in Washington DC. He was repeatedly interrogated and imprisoned and lost that job and his family who, fearing reprisals, have withdrawn from him now that the FBI has investigated him.
