TWINS NOTES: • THE TWINS walked-off the Blue Jays for their third straight win…they are now 77-69 overall, 38-37 at home, 28-20 in series openers, and 7-6 in the month of September…they improved to 3-3 in extra-inning games, their second such win in as many days…they are now 3-1 against the Blue Jays this season and 14-13 against the AL East…it marked their 34th come-from-behind win and their fifth walk-off win…it was their first time walking off in back-to-back games since April 25 and 26, 2016 vs. Cleveland…it is just the second time in club history that back-to-back games have ended with walk-off home runs, the first came August 6 and 7, 1970 vs. California and Oakland…Eddie Rosario and Byron Buxton join George Mitterwald and Jim Holt in completing the feat…eight games over the .500 mark is a season-high for the Twins, and this is their first time at such a level since July 24, 2015 (52-44)…the team elected to wear their red alternate caps with their home white primary jerseys for the first time since a red cap was part of their home rotation from 2004-06. • The Twins and Red Sox jointly announced on Thursday that they would be donating $100,000 each to the Southwest Florida Community Foundation to assist with hurricane relief efforts throughout Southwest Florida…all funds donated to the Southwest Florida Community Foundation will go directly to hurricane relief in areas of Southwest Florida…the Twins facility is expected to be up and running as planned for instructional league late next week. • JOSÉ BERRÍOS allowed one run on five hits in 5.2 innings…he fell one out short of his 13th quality start, and lost an opportunity for his 13th win in the ninth inning…he remains at 8-1 at Target Field this season, but lowered his home ERA to 2.45 (66.0 IP, 18 ER)…his four walks allowed tied a season high (May 30 vs. Houston) and were one shy of a career high (May 2, 2016 at Houston). • BYRON BUXTON (2-for-4) hit his first career walk-off, a solo in the bottom of the 10th to give the Twins a 3-2 victory…it was his second career extra-inning home run…he now has 10 home runs in his last 31 games (25 RBI)…18 of his last 37 hits (3 doubles, 5 triples, 10 home runs) since August 12 have been for extra bases. • JOE MAUER (1-for-4) has a hit in 20 of his last 21 starts…he leads the majors since August 10 with a .406 (52-for-128) average. • JORGE POLANCO (1-for-4) is hitting .324 (34-for-105) with nine doubles, eight home runs and 29 RBI in his last 28 games…in 18 games batting third in the order, he has 14 RBI and is batting .279 (17-for-61). • EDDIE ROSARIO (2-for-3) had his 38th multi-hit game of the season, two shy of Brian Dozier’s 40 for the team lead…he extended his hitting streak to eight games…his ninth stolen base puts him two shy of a career high (11, 2015). • KENNYS VARGAS (1-for-4) is 5-for-11 over his last five games with two doubles, two home runs, six RBI and two walks.
