It is truly a gem captured on recording. Hence, the very fitting name: The Pearl. It is every bit as enthralling, captivating, and mesmerizing as those gently glistening gems that lie hidden in the depths of a vast mysterious ocean. The Pearl is one of those pieces of music that just FEELS like you've heard it before. I think it is the emotion behind this music that some of us have FELT before. To me, the main theme sails from Despair and Solemness to Pensiveness and Hope. It is a courageous piece of work, and I think it is one of the most emotionally stimulating pieces of music that Brian Eno & Harold Budd have created. Just as a Pearl forms from immaculate layers of nacre, so does this musical Pearl form from rich layers of emotion. It deserves every one of those 5 stars. Pod ľa vlastných slov Emilíany, kým predošlé albumy boli o u čení sa ako tvori ť piesne, písa ť texty a melódie alebo o u čení sa ako neby ť spútaná pravidlami, nový album je predovšetkým ich spolo čnou hudobnou výpravou, ktorej ú čelom bolo prostredníctvom preskúmavania zvukových a vizuálnych terénov nájs ť jej vlastný charakteristický zvuk.     The Oak of the Golden Dreams New World Records 80555 The 1960s: Not As Remembered, But As They Were "If you remember the sixties, you weren't there," announced La Monte Young at a 1989 concert in New York that revived the forgotten music of Richard Maxfield. We don't remember the sixties the way they happened. We look back and see the figures who emerged successfully from the sixties into the calmer seventies and buttoned-down eighties: Steve Reich, Philip Glass, Terry Riley. We see a movement called minimalism, which beamed out of sixties chaos on the intensity of its reduction to a few chords, a few notes, a motoric rhythmic persistence. We think of that movement as being the product of the handful of composers named above, when in reality, minimalism was a broad movement with many, many composers involved, some of whom didn't survive. And by “survive,” I mean in some cases literally. Among the little-sung names in early minimalism were Richard Maxfield, Terry Jennings, Tony Conrad, Angus MacLise, John Cale, Charlemagne Palestine, Dennis Johnson, Julius Eastman, Harold Budd. Several of them died drug-related deaths in their early forties (Maxfield, Jennings, MacLise); Eastman dropped out of the scene and died at age 50. Others abandoned music for greener fields: Conrad (experimental film and video), Palestine (visual art), Johnson (computer science); though Conrad and Palestine have recently made aggressive comebacks as composers. Others veered into rock. John Cale did very nicely with a little group called the Velvet Underground, while Harold Budd became an underground star of ambient rock.

    WEGART NOVINKY – január/február 2014 Mogwai – Rave Tapes (Rock Action) Rave Tapes je ôsmy štúdiový album škótskej postrockovej kapely Mogwai a ich druhý na ich vlastnej zna čke Rock Action, ktorú založili už pred 18 rokmi, aby na nej vydali svoj debutový 7-palcový singel Tuner/Lower. Medzi časom sa etablovali na medzinárodnej hudobnej scéne svojou kvalitnou produkciou a koncertnými šnúrami pravidelnými ako u máloktorej kapely. 10-pies ňová nahrávka ťaží z rovnakého zdroja ako jej predchodcovia, zahalená vo farebných štruktúrach a založená na postupne hutnejúcich beatoch, s gitarami, na ktorých Mogwai vybudovali svoju reputáciu. Album vznikol v roku 2013 vo vlastnom štúdiu kapely Castle Of Doom v Glasgowe. CD: 15,00 € 2LP: 25,00 € DELUXE BOXSET 85,00 € Warpaint – Warpaint (Mute) Warpaint je štvor členné čisto ženské rockové zoskupenie z Los Angeles, ktoré debutovalo v roku 2010 celosvetovo ve ľmi úspešným albumom „The Fool“, a týmpádom jeho nasledovník bol o čakávaný s ve ľkým záujmom. Eponymná novinka je experimentálnejšia a z vä čšej časti postavená na zvuku kláves, čo je rozdiel oproti debutu, ktorému dominovali hlavne gitary. Emily Kokal, líderka kapely, sa sa vyjadrila, že Warpaint boli ovplyvnené R&B a ich hudba na tomto albume je „viac než štandardný rock.“ Máte možnos ť posúdi ť posun diev čenskej štvorky sami. CD digipak: 14,50 € 2LP: 20,00 € Agnes Obel – Aventine (Play It Again Sam) Čistý a jemný debutový album klasicky vzdelanej dánskej klaviristky a spevá čky Agnes Obel sa v roku 2010 stal ve ľkým hitom v celej Európe. Po troch rokoch neúnavného koncertovania prichádza so svojim druhým albumom, ktorý je akousi odpoveďou na toto hektické obdobie.
