ANZ to open Melbourne Airport banking centre and four new foreign exchange outlets

ANZ today announced it would open Melbourne Airport’s only banking centre and four new foreign exchange outlets to serve the 16 million passengers using the airport each year and the 14,000 staff and 140 businesses working in and around the airport.

ANZ Managing Director Trade and Transaction Services Mr Mark Paton said: “Travellers using Melbourne Airport will now be able to access the same bank foreign exchange rates that they can get at our branches. We have also expanded our range of to 45 in total, including previously hard to find currencies from Asia, South America and Eastern Europe.

“That means we can offer travellers a better deal on foreign exchange with the convenience of extended opening hours so travellers can purchase foreign exchange before they travel or when they arrive in Melbourne.”

ANZ Managing Director Retail Banking Mr David Hisco said: “The new Melbourne Airport banking centre is part of our plan to open up to 80 branches around in the next 3 years. Part of this involves new centres based around large employment hubs with our ‘anz@work’ program where we offer business customers a package of discounted banking products and services for their employees.

“This new service means there are now accessible local banking services for the large airport- based community,” he said

ANZ will operate three foreign exchange outlets located in the arrivals and departures areas of the International terminal and an additional site in the Virgin Blue terminal. ANZ Melbourne Airport managed by Mr Alan Wong will offer foreign exchange and Travellers Cheques. The ANZ Foreign Exchange outlets in the International terminal will open from 5.00am to 2.00am, 7 days a week.

ANZ will also be offering a foreign exchange express ordering service where customers can ring ANZ Phone Banking on 1800 352 535 to order foreign cash and travellers cheques for express pick-up at the Airport. This service will also be available for non-ANZ customers with payment through an ANZ account or any Visa or MasterCard credit card domiciled in Australia.

ANZ’s new Melbourne Airport banking centre will open on 16 June, providing sales services only with everyday branch telling facilities available at the adjacent ANZ Foreign Exchange outlet. It will be located at Level 1, International Departures at Melbourne Airport and will open extended hours from 9.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday and 10.00am to 5.00pm on Saturday and Sunday.
