1 CITY OF ALBANY 2 PROCLAMATION 3 4 WHEREAS, Lost in the Fog was one of Albany’s valued citizens; and 5 WHEREAS, Lost in the Fog was based at Golden Gate Fields and was 6 frequently called “the most popular horse to come out of the Bay Area since Seabiscuit”; 7 and 8 WHEREAS, Lost in the Fog achieved his fame by winning races across the 9 country with a dazzling display of speed and heart; and 10 WHEREAS, Lost in the Fog won his first 10 races, a streak in which he won nine 11 stakes and set two track records. Lost in the Fog was voted the Eclipse Award, as the 12 nation’s top sprinter for 2005 in a landslide; and 13 WHEREAS, stricken with cancer, Lost in the Fog had his racing career and life 14 cut short. His final record featured 11 wins – 10 of the stakes variety – and a second 14 15 starts and $978,099 in earnings; and 16 WHEREAS, Hall of Fame jockey Russell Baze rode Lost in the Fog in all but one 17 of his races.
