The 2008 Jeep® Commander has three available 4x4 systems that offer varying degrees of on-road ability and off-road mastery. Standard full-time Quadra-Trac I® 4WD is an always-on system. It transparently transfers power to wheels with the most traction. Available Quadra-Trac II® 4WD offers a full-time high- and part-time low-range 4x4 system. Its innovative all-speed traction control can detect wheel slippage and send up to 100 percent of the available torque to the axle with the most traction. In low gear, this system delivers maximum torque off-road. Available Quadra- Drive® II 4WD is a full-time high- and part-time low-range 4x4 system with front and rear Electronic Limited-Slip Differentials (ELSD). The ELSD feature can quickly shift up to 100 percent of available torque to any one of the four wheels with the best traction.

ARTICULATION The ability to keep tires in contact with the road, providing traction to climb over large obstacles.

MANEUVERABILITY The ability to navigate around obstacles that are tightly situated.

WATER FORDING The ability to cross a specific depth of water at a specific speed.
