It was the Cardinals’ seventh-straight title, one short of the conference record of eight-straight football titles won by Augustana between 1981 and 1988. For the Bluejays, it was their first 2012 CCIW Football Standings title since 1980 and third in school history, while the Thunder captured its 16th title in program history and first since 2006. School CCIW Overall North Central 6-1 9-3 2012 NCAA postseason recap Elmhurst 6-1 10-2 North Central earned the CCIW’s automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA Wheaton 6-1 8-2 Division III Football Championship by virtue of having the highest point Augustana 4-3 5-5 differential in games against Elmhurst and Wheaton during the regular Illinois Wesleyan 3-4 6-4 season. It was the Cardinals’ seventh postseason appearance in eight Millikin 2-5 5-5 years as they fell to Linfield in the second round. Elmhurst, playing as Carthage 1-6 3-7 an at-large team, made its first NCAA postseason appearance in school North Park 0-7 1-9 history and also advanced to the second round.
