3 KES Teams

On a King’s-Edgehill Hockey team, your child will build a healthy lifestyle, competitive skills, close friendships, and still enjoy academic excellence, artistic pursuits, community involvement, leadership development plus other team sports! Join hockey players from all parts • Skills instruction from of Canada, Europe and around the Beginner to Elite world. • Boys’ and Girls’ Prep Teams with their own, experienced coaching staff •Prep Teams play 40+ games/season

4 Practice Schedule

Hockey is offered as a fall and winter sport athletic option. • Teams practice and compete from September – April • Daily practices 3-4 times/week, including skills only practice once a week • Off ice training 2-3 times per week, All Athletic programs and team including yoga! practices are offered within school hours. Our hockey team is made up of both boarding and day students. Transportation is available for Day Students travelling from the Annapolis Valley, Metro Halifax and South Shore/Chester.

5 Competition

We compete in the Becomes the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) league and the Prep School Hockey Federation (PSHF) against other Prep School teams throughout Canada and the Eastern United States, such as: Stanstead College (QC) Phillips Exell Academy Rothesay Netherwood School (NB) BCS: Bishop’s College School (QC) (NH) Ridley College (ON) Rice School (VT) Northwood School (NY) (ON) Trinity College School (ON) Gilmour Academy (OH) (NY) (ME) …and other Canadian boarding schools, US prep schools and sport academies.

6 Our annual schedule includes eight highly regarded tournaments and tours that provide exposure to College, University, Professional and Junior Scouts, and overseas competition.

7 Travel

Boys’ and Girls’ Prep teams often travel for competition. Games and tournaments are held throughout Canada and the Eastern United States.

Every two years, teams travel to European countries – such as Iceland and Germany in the past – for international play and cultural education.

8 Academics

Alongside outstanding hockey development, KES students receive a well-rounded education that includes the International Baccalaureate Programme option, fine arts appreciation and community service. Game play, travel and international tours offer our Prep Team players excellent opportunities to train and compete, and play before College, University and Professional Junior Scouts.

Although Athletic pursuits are mandatory they are only one aspect of a KES education.
