Obituary: "Mrs. Sutherland - The funeral of Mrs. Anne Sutherland took place on February 12th, 1920 form the residence of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Fyfe. The funeral service was conducted in the Presbyterian Church at 2:30 pm by the pastor, the Rev. J. S. Miller, MA. Touching reference was made to the "quiet and unostentatious life of service of the deceased" who was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church. . . After the service, interment was made in the Crystal City cemetery, a number of neighbours from the South district [Rosebud] being among the concourse that followed the remains to their last resting place. . . The late Mrs. Sutherland was born at Aden, , Scotland in 1844. Her marriage to the late John Sutherland took place in 1863. Her husband died in 1908. In 1912 Mrs. Sutherland came to Canada and had since resided with her daughter, Mrs. A. G. Fyfe. Of a family of fourteen, three sons and two daughters predeceased her. Those remaining to mourn her loss are Mrs. Charles, Mrs. Coule, Mrs. Dickie, Mrs. Donald and 27 grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Scotland, Mrs. Cronjie in South Africa; William, James and Mrs. Fyfe and 14 grandchildren in Crystal City and district; and Mrs. Mills of Pipestone, Manitoba."

G. Fyfe, Crystal City, Man., to Mr. George Edward Biglow, son of Mrs. E. J. Biglow and the late Mr. Biglow, Holland, Man. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Frank W. Samis. Miss Lois Fyfe, sister of the bride, played the wedding music. The bride wore a frock of airway blue moss crepe. The long Basque bodice with high scalloped neckline was shirred to a front panel. The skirt was full and the three-quarter length sleeves featured inner arm shirring. The bride's matching felt hat was an off-the-face model with wide corded silk bow and a shoulder length veil. Her corsage was of Briercliffe roses. After a reception at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Biglow left by motor for the east. Upon their return they will reside in Holland. For travelling, the bride chose a black wool dressmaker suit with lone torso line single-breasted jacket. Her turban was of black wool."

Obituary: "Margaret Irene Bigelow - Peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 1995 at Rock Lake Personal Care Home, aged 82 years. Irene was born on May 17, 1912 near Crystal City and was the daughter of Andrew Gordon Fyfe and Margaret Beaton Sutherland. She received her early education at Crystal City and completed her Grade 12 at Wesley College in Winnipeg. In 1932 she graduated from Manitou Normal School with her Teacher's Certificate and subsequently taught at three rural Manitoba schools, Dunrea, Eton and Holland. On October 4, 1941 she married George Edward Bigelow of Holland. They farmed at Holland until 1945 when they purchased the Fyfe family farm and moved to Crystal City. Here they farmed until 1975 when they retired into the village. Irene was pianist at Rosebud United Church for many years and was co-founder of the Rosebud Junior Choir. She was an active member of the United Church Women and a lifelong member of the United Church. Irene was a gentle and loving person, and her family was the centre of her life.

Irene was predeceased by her beloved husband, George in 1991. She will be lovingly remembered by two sons, Brian (Beth) of Flin Flon and Jim (Chris) of Crystal City; three daughters, Janice Wardell (Gary) of Winnipeg, Barbara Martin (Jim) of Crystal City and Anne Bigelow (Larry Phillips) of Winnipeg; 15 grandchildren, Tom, Alisha, Tim and Brianne Bigelow of Flin Flon, Russ and Patti Wardell of Winnipeg, Jeff, Steven, Eric and Jill Martin of Crystal City, John and Michelle Bigelow of Crystal City, and Mark, Todd and Paul Phillips of Winnipeg; one great-grandson, Bryton Bigelow of Flin Flon; and two sisters Marion Riley of Winnipeg and Lois Totton of Toronto. The son of Elias John Bigelow and Elsie Jane Gates, George was born on January 1, 1911 near Holland, Man. where he was also raised. He received his early education at Centreville and Holland schools, and then attended the University of Manitoba where he graduated in 1932 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Graduating at the height of the Depression, he worked at various jobs, including bookkeeper at Island Lake Gold Mine and salesman across Canada for Proctor & Gamble, until deciding to begin farming at Holland in 1938.

On October 4, 1941, he married Margaret Irene Fyfe of Crystal City. Purchasing the Fyfe family farm, they moved to Crystal City in 1945 where they farmed until retiring into the village in 1975. George was always active in community affairs, serving as school trustee for Rosebud School and later Pembina Valley School Division, where he was Chairman for several years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and held the position of Deputy Grand Master for Manitoba in 1964. . . He was a lifelong member of the United Church. . . She wore a two-piece frock of airway blue crepe fashioned with high neckline and three-quarter sleeves. The long buttoned bodice was ornamented with scrolls of satin. She wore a three-quarter length coat and a navy fur felt hat with veil drapery. Her corsage was of cream roses. Miss Jean Fyfe attended her sister and Mr. Thomas Benson was groomsman. A reception was held at the Fort Garry Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Riley will reside in Kenora. For going away the bride wore a moss green wool suit, the coat opening over a white silk jersey blouse. Winnipeg Free Press: "Janet Marion Riley - Peacefully after a brief illness, on Thursday, June 15, 1995 at Misericordia Hospital in her 78th year. Marion was born on July 27, 1917 near Crystal City, Man. She was the daughter of Andrew Gordon Fyfe and Margaret Beaton Sutherland. Marion received her early schooling in Crystal City and attended the School of Nursing at the St. Boniface Hospital, graduating in May 1941 as a Registered Nurse. On November 8, 1941 she married Ken Riley of Winnipeg, first living in Kenora, Ont. where Ken worked with the Royal Bank of Canada. They moved with the Royal Bank to several towns in Manitoba, where Marion raised her family and continued to work as a Registered Nurse. Her sons, Rick and Jack, were born in Russell and son Pat in Boissevain.

In 1966 Marion moved to Winnipeg where she worked as an R.N. at the Villa Rosa Home for unwed mothers. He retired from Villa Rosa in 1986 remaining in Winnipeg for her retirement years. Marion was a life-long member of the United Church of Canada and attended Westminster United Church where she was an active member of the U.C.W. Marion was predeceased by two sons, Rick and Pat; granddaughter Laura, brothers, James, Roy and Harold; sisters, Ann Worobec, Phyllis Baker, Jean McRae and Irene Bigelow. He began his work in the Hudson Bay Mining Co. in Flin Flon, Manitoba, and served in the Canadian Air Force. He married Jean Fyfe in 1948 and she died in 1975. They had three sons: Don, wife Lil, Frazee, MN; John, died 2001, wife Diane, Detroit Lakes, MN; Mark, wife Tammy, Moorhead, MN. Don moved to the US in 1953 and began a career in the sugar industries beginning in Sterling, CO with Great Western Sugar. In 1955, he joined American Crystal Sugar, working in East Grand Forks, Moorhead, MN and Hillsboro, ND transferring to Clarksburg, CA in 1980. He married Beverlee Wilson in 1976. He had three stepsons; Robin, wife Paulie, Fairbanks, AK; Glen, wife Tessa, Wurzburg, Germany; and David, wife Kathleen, Fairplay, CO.
