H The Weekly Newsletter of Sydney Boys High School Vol 22 No 3 19 February 2021 From the Principal School of Pacific Administration. He was High Talent awarded an OBE in 1980 for his services to PNG. At High, Fred was an outstanding athlete, I winning the GPS (1937-39) and CHS 120 yards hurdles in 15.5 and the CHS long jump in 6.18m. He was instrumental in High’s back to back GPS senior athletics premierships in 1937-38, competing in hurdles, relay, 440 yards At the CHSSA Rowing championships last and long jump. (Our only other victory since G Friday, High was dominant at the regatta but then in GPS came in 1962). He rowed in a pushed by Northern Beaches Secondary second IV, was an important member of High’s College. Our boys won seven gold medals swimming team and represented High in the backed up by nine silver and six bronze. It was first XV (1938-39). ‘COME FORWARD’ – The NSW Union of Rowers Inc. Newsletter 5/2011 2011 AGM / PRESENTATION LUNCHEON The Union’s Annual Meeting on 21st August saw the appointment of our first lady President, Barbara Ramjan (centre) with (left to right) James Waldersee (Balmain), Cameron & Sarah Kitcher (Grafton High); Georgie Gotch (Queenwood School); Victoria Delipetar (UTS & Jameson High) and Holly Lawrence (Hunter Valley Grammar). CONGRATULATIONS! Two milestones were passed – our 100th Scholarship and the first brother & sister to receive scholarships. Our winners impressed everyone with their demeanour and confidence. Our guest speaker Peter Collett, Trans Atlantic Solo Rowing Challenge winner captivated the luncheon with his oratory, videos and power point presentation of his 76 day voyage. Thank you Peter for the description of your inspiring and daring adventure. Dr. Phil Sharp, Tim Wainman and Kim Mackney were awarded with 50 year Meritorious Service Certificates and a very surprised Kim Mackney also received the 2011 Master of the Year Award. Win $1,000 in the Union of Rowers 2015 Scholarship Club OFFICE BEARERS 2015-2016 Our office bearers elected at the Annual General Tickets $25 each or four for $100. Meeting held on 23 August 2015 are: Please support the Union of Rowers annual awards Patron - George Neilson OAM by contributing to the 2015 Scholarship Club. President – Paul Coates The most significant activity of the Union of Deputy President – No Nomination Rowers is the ongoing support the Union gives to Elite Vice-President – Terry Maher promising young athletes each year. This year the Public Officer – Anne Craig Union has made eight scholarship awards of Vice-Presidents – Eric Carter, Russ McLean $1,000 each. Over 100 of these awards have been Honorary Secretary – Phil Titterton made since 1992. Honorary Treasurer - Anne Craig Honorary Auditor - Simon Croot To fund these awards the Union runs the Committee Members - Brian Guthrie, Barry Scholarship Club and other activities. A number of Moynahan OAM, Barbara Ramjan, Dr Phil Sharp, members have already contributed to the David Sollom, Tim Wainman, Keith Jameson Scholarship Club this year. We are inviting all OAM, Louis Petrin, Jenny Cole members to support this very worthy cause. th Subsequently at the October Executive Committee The lucky draw will take place on 5 December meeting Phil Titterton was elected to fill the vacant 2015 at the Sydney International Regatta Centre position of Deputy President.
