Bendigo Soldiers Memorial Institute Military Museum The Bendigo Soldiers Memorial Institute Military Museum (SMIMM) building is a significant landmark both for the residents of the City of Greater Bendigo and for visitors. The SMIMM was recently redeveloped and officially re-opened on November 15, 2018, exactly 97 years after the initial opening of the building in 1921. The museum is home to a broad range of wartime memorabilia that has either been donated or loaned by individuals and organisations. Manned by staff and volunteers, the SMIMM welcomes large group bookings by appointment and lunch at the Bendigo District RSL can also be organised after the tour where more memorabilia is displayed both inside the club and outside in the memorabilia garden. Exhibitions are held periodically in the newly developed exhibition space at the SMIMM which frequently house items for view from the Australian War Memorial and the Shrine of Remembrance.
