Global Environmental Objective(s) Proposed Global Environmental Objective(s) The Project’s development and global environmental objectives are: (a) to reduce the discharge of pollutants with transboundary importance, particularly Nitrogen, in selected hotspots of the eastern Adriatic Sea; and (b) to improve the capacity in the Republic of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina to prepare pollution control projects in selected localities of Dalmatia and Herzegovina and to strengthen the capacity to monitor the sea water quality. Project Beneficiaries The primary Project beneficiaries are the people directly dependent on the Adriatic Sea waters for their livelihood and recreation, such as those involved in the fisheries and the tourism industry. In addition, institutional development and knowledge sharing facilitated through the Project would contribute to strengthening of various institutions and/or agencies responsible for environmental management in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina to implement the required reforms. These institutions include local and central governments (including urban planning departments / institutes and water resources institutions), NGOs, water and sanitation companies/municipal departments, and solid waste management operators. PDO Level Results Indicators Achievement of the PDO would be monitored and measured through the following indicators: • Nutrient load reduction (Nitrogen-N) achieved in the demonstration investments financed under the project (Kg/year) • Number of investments proposals prepared and presented to the EU for funding; and • Number of sea water quality measurements reported annually by the Croatian Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources from the new monitoring system .     Tourism Introduction Zadar County encompasses marine area from Island Pag to National Park Kornati and land area of Velebit, i.e. the central part of the Croatian coastline. This is the area of true natural beauty, inhabited from the Antique period, rich with cultural heritage, maritime tradition and hospitality. Zadar County is the heart of the Adriatic and the fulfilment of many sailors' dreams with its numerous islands as well as interesting and clean underwater. It can easily be accessed from the sea, by inland transport and airways. Inseparable unity of the past and the present can be seen everywhere. Natural beauties, cultural and historical monuments have been in harmony for centuries, because men lived in harmony with nature. As a World rarity, here, in a relatively small area, within a hundred or so kilometres, one can find beautiful turquoise sea, mountains covered with snow, fertile land, rough karst, ancient cities and secluded Island bays. This is the land of the sun, warm sea, olives, wine, fish, song, picturesque villages with stone- made houses, to summarise - the true Mediterranean. History of Tourism in Zadar Tourism in Zadar has a long tradition. The historical yearbooks record that in June 1879 a group of excursionists from Vienna visited Zadar, in 1892 the City Beautification Society was founded (active until 1918), and in 1899 the Mountaineering and Tourism Society "Liburnia" was founded. At the beginning of the XX century, in March 1902 hotel Bristol was opened to the public (today's hotel Zagreb). Most important period for the development of tourism in Zadar County lasted from the 60's - 80's of the 20th century, when the majority of the hotel complexes were erected.

For the most part it spreads in Southern Croatia (Dalmatia) and some of it is located in upland Croatia. By the year 2011. Zadar County had 170.017 inhabitants. Average age of the inhabitants was 41,9 years, according to population census from year 2011. A total of 53,15% of working age population had finished high school education, while 19,37% of them had elementary schooling, and 7,87% of working age population had finished elementary school from 4th to 7th grade. Furthermore, 3,98% of Zadar County population had finished special graduate studies and 8,97% of people had finished master degree, so a positive trend of tertiary education is noticeable. Zadar County is ranked number eight by amount of GNP in Croatia. In 2013. GNP of Zadar County summed up to 1,402 millions of EUR, which is 3,22% of total GNP of Croatia, and 10% of Jadran Croatia region.

Rad je podijeljen u tri glavne cjeline koje obuhvaćaju neke opće informacije o mjestu, zatim povijesni razvoj mjesta, od prapovijesti do danas te na kraju analiza kulturno povijesnih spomenika koji se nalaze u Novigradu. Danas Općina Novigrad ubraja u svoj sastav tri sela, istoimeni Novigrad, Pridragu i Paljuv. Nalazi se između četiri nacionalna parka Hrvatske, a to su NP Paklenica, NP Plitvička jezera, NP Kornati te NP Krka, u jugoistočnom dijelu Zadarske županije.
