By the late 18th Century the Castle had been remodelled and the extended Park Lodge for his son Viscount Mandeville. During the late 19th Century Park Lodge was associated with various meetings of King Edward VII and his mistress Lillie Langtry. The 10th Duke of Manchester sold Kimbolton Castle to pay death duties in 1950 after 340 years of the family’s occupation but he retained Park Lodge as a summer home and he moved to Kenya. The family crest can be seen on the elevations of the house.

Park Lodge Park Lodge sits at the head of a long driveway that forks off a shared farm driveway (from the B660). The drive leads to impressive entrance gates with a gravelled sweep to the front door. The house is entered via a beautiful arched stone doorway that leads to the inner porch and then the Reception Hall. The Library can be combined with the Drawing Room to provide an impressive entertaining area. The Dining Room is perhaps the most notable of the rooms and was the original Entrance Hall benefiting from a Gun / Viewing Room of the Castle. The panelling was taken from Kimbolton Castle and is believed to be 17th Century. The ground floor also consists of a well-proportioned Morning Room that leads through into the Kitchen which benefits from a large four oven Aga and also a Neff cooker. Other accommodation consists of a Snooker Room, Victorian Orangery, Wine Store, further Cloakroom and a smaller side Entrance Hall that provides more convenient access for day to day use.
