Research on MMA Technology System of Taichi Push Hand
2019 International Conference on Cultural Studies, Tourism and Social Sciences (CSTSS 2019) Research on MMA Technology System of Taichi Push Hand Weiqi Li Jiangxi Normal University School of Physical Education, Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, China Keywords: Taijiquan; Skills; UFC; MMA Abstract: Chinese Wushu has a long history, extensive and profound. After several generations of unremitting efforts, Chinese Wushu has gained a very high reputation in the world. Among them, Taijiquan has an unparalleled influence, according to a survey released in 2007 by the National Center for Supplementary and Alternative Medicine, affiliated to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). According to the report, about 3 million people in the United States engage in Taijiquan, while in 2015 the number of Taijiquan practitioners worldwide reached 300 million. It can be said that Taijiquan is a business card of traditional Wushu. However, in recent years, several confrontations between Taijiquan and modern fighting have all ended in failure, which makes people think that the concept of Taijiquan has lagged behind the times. Therefore, we need a platform to rebuild people's confidence in Taijiquan boxing, and also to avoid the development of Taijiquan blindly emphasizing traditional culture and health preservation. After fighting, we should know that the soul of Wushu is fighting. Once Taijiquan leaves fighting, it is a water without source and a wood without foundation. Comprehensive Combat (MMA) is the hottest type of combat at present. It follows the idea of Western pragmatism and the rule of open and inclusive, and its skill is undoubtedly high. If Taijiquan can participate in it, it can prove its fighting ability through the stage of comprehensive fighting first. -
Top Ten Reasons to Attend the Tai Chi Gala
LIFE / HEALTH & FITNESS / FITNESS & EXERCISE Top ten reasons to attend the Tai Chi Gala March 16, 2016 12:40 PM MST 2016 Tai Chi Gala Instructors Tai Chi Gala No matter what experience level you are in Tai Chi (Taiji) or any Chinese internal martial art system, there are great reasons to attend the Tai Chi Gala this June in Albany, New York. Originally founded by Grandmaster Jou Tsung Hwa and named the "Zhang San Feng Festival", this event is now organized by Jou’s disciple Master Loretta Wollering to unite Tai Chi, Bagua, Xingyi, Qigong, and other internal arts enthusiasts in a sharing spirit. There are many reasons to participate, these are the top ten: 10) The food is reasonably priced, conveniently provided onsite, abundant, and delicious. 9) The location is close to both the airport and Amtrak station and accessible to all travelers. 8) The training venue offers pleasant hotel accommodation and the training facilities are clean and comfortable. 7) Each year this event attracts more than 200 people from all over the United States as well as overseas with a variety of backgrounds and skill levels. It is a great opportunity to connect with people to exchange experiences and stories. 6) The past attendees enjoyed the non-denomination worship ceremony that helped to bring the energy of gratitude together. They said that the free time to meditate, pray, contemplate, or simply breathe deeply was spiritual. 5) The Friendship demonstration on Saturday in the past was a draw. A traditional Chinese Lion Dance from Yee’s Hung Ga Kung Fu, led by Sifu Sharif Bey will join other Sifus to provide an eye feast with various Chinese Martial Arts performances. -
Master Sun Lutang Creator of the Sun Style Taijiquan a Study of Wu Ji
Institut QiShen Institute Tai Chi & Qigong Master Sun Lutang Creator of the Sun Style Taijiquan A Study of Wu Ji Wu Ji is the natural state occurring before one begins to practice martial arts.1 The mind is without thought; the intent is without motion; the eyes are without focus; the hands and the feet are still; the body makes no movement; yin and yang are not yet divided; the clear and the turbid have not yet separated; the qi is united and undifferentiated. Man is born between and heaven and hearth, and possesses the natures of both Yin and Yang. His original qi is united and undifferentiated. However, man becomes confused by desires and this gives rise to impure qi and the clumsy use of strength. On top of this, if one does not know how to cultivate the self internally while nourishing the self externally, the result will be that the yin and yang will not be balanced, and the internal and external will be divided. When yang reaches its limit, yin is born. At the extreme of yin, exhaustion is the inevitable result. At this point, nothing can be done for the person.2 The ultimate method of cultivation is called “the way of inverse movement.” This method turns Qian and Kun,3 revolving the qi until the post-heaven functions return to the pre-heaven state.4 Impure qi and clumsy strength 1 “Wu Ji” is the state of undifferentiated chaos before creation. Wu Ji literally means “without extremes,” and the term describes the state in which all is combined in a homogeneous unity. -

Does the Karate Kid Have a Kung Fu Dream? Hong Kong Martial Title Arts between Hollywood and Beijing Author(s) Marchetti, G JOMEC Journal: Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies, 2014, Citation n. 5 Issued Date 2014 URL http://hdl.handle.net/10722/204953 Rights Creative Commons: Attribution 3.0 Hong Kong License JOMEC Journal Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies Does the Karate Kid Have a Kung Fu Dream? Hong Kong Martial Arts between Hollywood and Beijing Gina Marchetti University of Hong Kong Email: [email protected] Keywords The Karate Kid choreography wu shu movie fu real kung fu Abstract This analysis of the martial arts choreography in The Karate Kid (2010) examines the contradictory matrix in which action films produce meanings for global audiences. A remake of a 1984 film, this iteration of The Karate Kid begins its imaginative battle over martial arts turf with English and Chinese titles at odds with one another. For English- speaking audiences, the title of the film promises a remake of the popular 1984 story of a displaced Italian American teenager (Ralph Macchio) trained by a Japanese American sensei (Pat Morita) to compete against the local karate bullies. However, the 2010 version has another identity competing with the first. Its Chinese title translates as Kung Fu Dream – Japanese culture, karate, and domestic American class and racial politics out of the picture. In this version, an African American youngster (Jaden Smith) moves to Beijing from Detroit and is taken under the wing of a drunken kung fu master (Jackie Chan) to battle a group of wu shu/san da villains. -
